College Football Betting: Week 12 Rundown

Posted by The Wiesguy on 11/16/2015 8:33:15 PM

After last week’s action it seems like the big winner was Notre Dame. Stanford lost and Baylor lost and I think both of those results will make it easier for the Irish to win out the season and make the playoffs. They are playing at Fenway Park of all places this week. Big stage even if the game might not be much of a challenge. There are other great games too in Big 10, Big 12 and PAC 12.

Saturday November 21

#9 Michigan State Spartans vs. #2 Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State -13

This one definitely would have had more meaning if the Spartans were still undefeated but they still control their destiny. A road win at OSU and then a home win over Penn State would put them into the conference title game, I believe. The Spartans have not looked great for stretches this season but I think they have enough to win this one. Ohio State has been better during the second half of the season, covering three of their last four. They are not dominating as expected but they will be a significant favourite. They can’t look ahead to Michigan next week. Tough call here. But I will take the underdog Spartans.

#24 USC Trojans vs. #22 Oregon Ducks

Oregon -4

The Ducks look like they have killed the conference’s chances of getting a team into the playoffs with their win over Stanford last week. Even though there are other programs that are shining its gets the FBS world’s attention when these two collide. Neither are having the season they want but can claim a little something if they win this week. It would be an especially good win for USC on the road and for coach Clay Helton. They have the personnel to do it too. I’ll back the Trojans with the points.

#11 TCU Horned Frogs vs. #17 Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners are suddenly looking like the team in the B12 with the best chance to make the playoffs. They beat Baylor last week and have to like their chances this week against a hobbled Horned Frogs group. The truth is they have been playing like one of the top teams in the nation ever since that inexplicable loss to Texas. Offensively and defensively they have been impressive. For TCU this one comes down to the health of QB Trevone Boykin, if he is healthy they can win anywhere. There is no line yet because of Boykin’s status. The way these teams are playing though you have to take Oklahoma.

Boston College Eagles vs. #5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame -17

I think the Irish were helped by the events of the past weekend but it all goes out the window if they lose again. Boston College will be physical for sure but they are not in the same league as Notre Dame this season. The only thing they have to be weary of is looking ahead to their final game at Stanford next week. This one is at Fenway so it will be interesting to see if BC can get enough fans in the stands to make an upset even possible. Take Notre Dame.
