MMA Betting: UFC on FOX Dillashaw vs. Barao 2 Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 7/15/2015 3:13:13 AM

The next UFC on Fox event will be on Saturday July 25 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The feature bout on this card will be bantamweight title defense by T.J. Dillashaw against Renan Barao.

There should be a high level of anticipation for the feature bout. Dillashaw first earned the title by beating Barao back at UFC 173. Since that time the two have been scheduled to fight a couple of times with each pulling out once. Since earning the title Dillashaw has fought only once, defending it with a KO against Joe Soto. By the time this match begins that will have been almost a year ago. He is a prohibitive favourite at -215.

When Barao lost to Dillashaw it was considered a pretty big upset. The Brazilian has an awesome 33-2 record and that is his only loss since joining UFC. Prior to that he had defended the bantamweight title three times including an impressive first round TKO of Urijah Faber, who he originally took the title from. Since losing the title to Dillashaw Barao has fought just once beating Mitch Gagnon. As an underdog he has some pretty good value to consider.

There will also be a women’s bantamweight title eliminator match on the card between Miesha Tate and Jessica Eye. Tate may only have a 3-2 record in UFC but she has been impressive going three rounds before losing to both Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano. Those were her first two bouts on the circuit and she comes into this one on a three match winning streak. Jessica Eye is just 1-1 since joining the UFC. Unfortunately she may be gaining as much notoriety for having a decision overturned because of marijuana use as her prowess in the ring. No odds are posted yet but you have to think she will be a sizable underdog against Tate.

There are only two other bouts on the main card for this event and both are in the lightweight division. The first is between Edson Barboza and Paul Felder. Barboza has been a regular on UFC since 2010 but he has never held a title while accumulating a 9-3 record (15-3 overall). When he is at his best he makes quick work of his opponents but he lost his last match to Michael Johnson in a unanimous decision. Felder has yet to lose in MMA and was the CFFC Lightweight Champ before jumping to UFC a couple of matches ago. No odds have been posted yet for this tilt.

The other lightweight bout is between Joe Lauzon and Takanori Gomi. Lauzon has been around awhile but since joining the UFC has had limited success. He lost his last fight at UFC 183, dropping his overall record to 24-10. Gomi has a similar profile with an overall record of 35-10 but limited success since jumping to UFC after establishing himself in Japan. Again no odds have been posted yet for this bout.
