South Point 400 Preview

Just like that, the contenders for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship dropped from 16 to 12 with the Round of 12 commencing this Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the South Point 400.

Current points leader Kevin Harvick dominated the Round of 16 with two wins and a seventh-place finish, with Brad Keselowski grabbing the other checkered flag.

What those two drivers have in common may prove to be beneficial in the opening race of the Round of 12 and that is they both drive Fords. That manufacturer has been extremely good at Las Vegas, winning five of the last seven races and, overall, 13 of the 25 total Cup Series races at this track.

Keselowski’s Team Penske teammate, Joey Logano, has won two of the last three runnings there and perhaps can pick up his first win of the playoffs in the South Point 400.
