There will only be three World Golf Championships this year as the WGC Match Play event in Austin was cancelled. That gives an extra air of importance to the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational. This tournament has long been considered one of the most underrated events on the PGA Tour, so virtually all the top golfers in the world will travel to Memphis to play at TPC Southwind this week. Brooks Koepka is the defending champion, but he is a longshot per the golf betting odds given his poor performance throughout the entire 2019-20 season.
Tiger Woods is the only player to win this tournament multiple times. Woods has an absurd eight WGC Invitational titles to his name, and he also has the three most dominant performances in this event’s history, winning by 11, 8, and 7 strokes. He will not be taking part in this year’s tournament though as he focuses on getting fully healthy for the PGA Championship.

The Course
This is one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour if you take into account that this is a par-70. TPC Southwind will be 7,238 yards for this event, and the water hazards are notorious. When most people think of iconic water holes, they think of No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass, but No. 12 and No. 18 at TPC Southwind are two of the toughest holes you will find on the PGA Tour. No. 12 has seen nearly 900 balls end up in the drink, and over 5,000 water hazards have been accumulated here since the course was remodeled in 2004. At the 2019 WGC Invitational, No. 12 was easily the toughest hole with just 54.4 percent of players landing it on the fairway and 59.6 percent of players finding the green in regulation. The average score at this hole was a 4.179.
Value Play to Win the Event: Patrick Reed +3300
Patrick Reed was looking sharp just before the PGA Tour was put on hold back in March, and he may have just rediscovered that form. Reed finished T8 at the WGC Champions event in early November, and he won the WGC Championship for the second time in his career in Mexico back in February. It took him some time to find his groove with four straight finishes outside the top 20 after a T7 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, but he was sharp outside of his second round at the Memorial to grab a T10.
Top 10 Prop: Justin Thomas +120
The most consistent player on the tour right now is Justin Thomas. Thomas has finished in the top 20 in 17 of his last 20 tournaments, and he has thrived at WGC events. He has seven top 15 finishes in his last 10 WGCs, including a win at the WGC Invitational two years ago in its last season at Firestone Country Club in Akron. Thomas lost in a playoff to Collin Morikawa at the Workday Charity Open three weeks ago, so he is still in great form.
