The Two Most Decorated LCS Teams Will Meet in the Summer Split Semifinals

The rivalry between Team SoloMid and Team Liquid is one of the deepest in the LCS. TSM are the most successful organization in the history of the league with six titles to their name, while Liquid won all four titles up for grabs in 2018 and 2019. The presence of Doublelift adds an extra layer of intrigue to this series too, as the most famous bottom laner moved from Liquid to TSM after the Spring Split. Liquid won both regular season meetings with TSM, so they are understandably sizable favorites by the Esports betting odds.

2020 League of Legends LCS Summer Split Semifinals Betting Odds

Team Liquid -200
Team SoloMid +151

Top Lane

We know what to expect from Impact in this series. He is likely to play tanks like Mordekaiser, Ornn, and Shen, as he is the best tank top laner in the region. His ability to make plays with those champions’ ultimates really gives Liquid a boost in team fights, and it makes him far more consistent than Broken Blade. TSM’s enigmatic top laner has shown some great skill during his time in the LCS, but he can fall on his face at times. He has played more champions than any other player on the team in the postseason, but we have not seen consistency from him since he entered the region.

Jungle

It’s going to be tough for Spica to make an impact in this series. He was simply outclassed by Broxah when these teams met in the regular season, but he has been better in the playoffs. Spica has dealt 17.3 percent of his team’s damage in the postseason, and he has looked strong on Nidalee. However, Broxah is on another level. While his stats aren’t as impressive, he was one of the catalysts for Fnatic before joining Liquid in the offseason, and he proved he can play new meta junglers like Hecarim and Volibear. That gives Liquid much more versatility in this position.

Mid Lane

The rivalry between Danish mid laners Jensen and Bjergsen has been fierce. Bjergsen got the better of Jensen when the latter was on Cloud9, but it’s been a different story since Jensen joined Liquid.

Jensen leads Liquid with a 5.4 KDA, and he has been strong on Azir, Orianna, and LeBlanc in the playoffs. He has shown that he can win with Bjergsen’s pocket pick Zilean too, adding some gamesmanship to this series. As for Bjergsen, he is the only reason TSM has made it this far. He has carried this team for long stretches, essentially 1v9ing at points. Bjergsen is still the best mid laner in the region with a 7 KDA in the playoffs.

Bottom Lane

The memes will be strong after this game no matter who wins because of the budding bottom lane rivalry. Doublelift has won more LCS titles than any other player in the region, leading Counter Logic Gaming, TSM, and Liquid to the mountain top in this region. However, his play really fell off in the Spring Split, leading to Tactical entering the starting lineup ahead of him and supplanting him as Liquid’s bottom laner in the Summer Split.

Tactical was great in his first season as a full-time starter, and it’s only a matter of when not if for him to be recognized as the best bottom laner in the region due to his talent. He leads Liquid in damage with 30.8 percent of his team’s damage dealt in the playoffs, and he benefits from having a world class support in CoreJJ alongside him in lane.

TSM have juggled their supports, but they are likely to play Biofrost over Treatz in this series. He is the grizzled veteran, even though he is largely playing Rakan. As for Doublelift, he finally looked good on Senna, but he is not the same player he was even last year.

Prediction

While Bjergsen has been great and should win out over Jensen, Liquid have the edge everywhere else in this series. Lay the chalk with Liquid at -200 to advance to play FlyQuest in the LCS Summer Split Finals.
