The most action-packed promotion yet this year in MMA will be UFC 259. Three champions will defend their titles on Saturday, marking just the fourth time this has happened in one promotion in UFC history. The last time this happened all three titles changes hands, so that may lead to some heavy betting on underdogs for this event.
UFC 259 will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. This promotion will be available on ESPN Plus at 6 p.m. ET for the early prelims and both ESPN and ESPN Plus for the prelims at 8 p.m. ET. The main card will start at 10 p.m. ET, and it will be available exclusively via PPV through ESPN Plus.
UFC 259 Betting Odds
Israel Adesanya -230
Jan Blachowicz +195
The Last Stylebender is one of the best fighters in the UFC. Israel Adesanya has yet to lose in his MMA career with a record of 20-0 and has 15 knockouts since moving from kickboxing to MMA. All his previous fights were as a middleweight though, and this will be his first contest as a light heavyweight.
Adesanya has been extremely impressive, leading to him being favored against Jan Blachowicz. He has been the middleweight champion since securing a unanimous decision over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236. Adesanya has successfully defended the belt three times with second-round knockouts of Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa and a unanimous decision over Yoel Romero.
Blachowicz certainly isn’t a pushover though. He has won eight of his last nine fights after a rough start to his UFC career. He scored a second-round TKO of Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 to claim the light heavyweight title in September, and he also has a much better ground game. While Blachowicz is a balanced fighter, all of Adesanya’s victories have been by knockout or decision.
Amanda Nunes -1400
Megan Anderson +700
Nunes is one of the biggest favorites you will ever see in UFC. She has been the best female fighter in the sport for the last five years, continually dominating whoever is put in her way. The Lioness currently holds both the featherweight and bantamweight titles, and the former title will be on the line when she takes on Megan Anderson. Nunes’ only real competition was Valentina Shevchenko, and she knocked out feared fighters Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg in the first round.
Anderson was formally the Invicta FC featherweight champion. Her UFC debut did not go well though as she lost by unanimous decision to Holly Holm at UFC 225. Since that point, she has won three of her last four fights. However, it’s hard to have much faith in her against a dominant fighter like Nunes.
Petr Yan -117
Aljamain Sterling -103
This is seen as the most balanced title fight of the bunch by the oddsmakers. Petr Yan won the bantamweight title with a fifth-round TKO of Jose Aldo at UFC 251. Yan is 15-1 with seven wins by knockout and seven wins by decision, and he has now won 10 straight fights.
Aljamain Sterling has won five straight fights. He lost three of five bouts in 2016 and 2017, but he has since rebounded in a big way. If he gets Yan to the ground, he has a good chance to win with eight career submissions, but he has just two knockouts.
