MMA will return to the Middle East this weekend for UFC 267. There will be two title fights as Jan Blachowicz defends his light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira, and Petr Yan will take on Cory Sandhagen for the interim UFC Bantamweight Championship. This is a stacked card from the preliminary fights to the PPV, and there’s a lot to like on Saturday.
UFC 267: Blachowicz vs. Teixeira will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The preliminaries will take place at 10:30 AM ET on ESPN Plus, while the main card will begin at 2 p.m. ET at ESPN Plus.
UFC 267: Blachowicz vs. Teixeira Parlay Picks
Jan Blachowicz -275 vs. Glover Teixeira
UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will defend his title for the second time on Saturday in Abu Dhabi. Blachowicz has won five straight bouts coming into this fight, and he has taken down Dominick Reyes and Israel Adesanya in the last 13 months. Those performances were very impressive, leading to him being a considerable favorite per the UFC betting odds against Glover Teixeira in the main event.
Teixeira is one of the biggest names in the UFC, but at this point in his career, his reputation surpasses his skill. He previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship seven years ago, and there’s a reason it’s taken him this long to take part in another title fight.
Cory Sandhagen +178 vs. Petr Yan
This is a somewhat gutsy pick considering Cory Sandhagen lost a split decision to T.J. Dillashaw three months ago and has now lost two of his last four fights. However, Sandhagen has earned Performance of the Night bonuses in the last year for his early knockouts of Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar. His only other recent loss was a submission defeat to current champion Aljamain Sterling.
Petr Yan’s only recent loss was to Sterling as well. Yan is a deserved favorite ahead of this fight as he only lost to Sterling due to an illegal knee, but he isn’t as seasoned as Sandhagen. That makes Sandhagen a nice pick at this price.
Li Jingliang +425 vs. Khamzat Chimaev
In the summer of 2020, Khamzat Chimaev was one of the hottest names in UFC. Chimaev set the modern record for quickest turnaround between victories with his wins over John Phillips and Rhys McKee here in Abu Dhabi on July 16 and July 26. He knocked out Gerald Meerschaert within 17 seconds two months later in Las Vegas, but he has not entered the Octagon since that point due to a severe case of COVID.
Chimaev flashed a lot of potential with those three wins, but no one knows quite how good he will be in his return. We’ve seen long-haul COVID severely impact athletes in other sports, making Li Jingliang a very valuable upset play on Saturday. Jingliang has been with the UFC for seven-and-a-half years and has more than enough talent to beat Chimaev.
