2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament Betting Odds

There’s a decent chance that the Atlantic 10 places three teams in the NCAA Tournament. Davidson and Dayton both have solid resumes to be a part of March Madness, and VCU could find its way in the Field of 68 too with a strong run in the nation’s capital. This is the 11th best conference in the country per Ken Pomeroy, but they are only just behind the Missouri Valley Conference in his ratings.

The 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament will be held from March 9-12, 2022, at Capital One Arena in Washington DC. Davidson, Dayton, and VCU were the best teams in the A10 all year, so those teams are the favorites to grab the conference’s automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Davidson has one of the best offenses in the country. The Wildcats rank 10th in adjusted efficiency and effective field goal percentage, and they are the eighth best three-point shooting team in the nation. They proved their mettle in non-conference play with a win over Alabama in Birmingham, and they are the top seed entering the A10 Tournament for a reason. Leading scorer Foster Loyer is averaging 16.8 PPG while making 45% of his threes, and Luka Brajkovic and Michael Jones are also hitting at least 42% of their threes while averaging 11.9 PPG or more. They split with VCU and lost their season finale to Dayton, but they have a nice path to the A10 Championship Game.

The Flyers desperately needed their win over Davidson last week to improve their at-large candidacy. Dayton still has terrible losses to UMass Lowell, Lipscomb, Austin Peay, and La Salle on their resume, but non-conference wins over Miami (FL), Belmont, Virginia Tech, and Kansas are impressive. This team needs to at least make the A10 final to feel good about its chances, but this isn’t a team to back at less than 3-1 considering some of their head scratching losses.

VCU definitely needs to make the final if the Rams are going to make it back to the NCAA Tournament. They have defeated Dayton and Davidson on the road already this season, so they must be respected although they lost their season finale to Saint Louis. The Rams have one of the top defenses in the country, ranking fourth in defensive efficiency and effective field goal percentage and second in turnover percentage, but this offense is a mess.

If you are looking for a team to play spoiler, take a gander at Saint Louis. The Billikens are actually rated ahead of VCU in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings, and they have knocked off both Dayton and VCU already this season. They will need to get past the team that has given them trouble all year though, as St. Bonaventure awaits in the quarterfinals provided Saint Louis wins its first round game.
