2022 Big 12 Tournament Betting Odds

This year’s Big 12 Conference Tournament will be a little odd. Oklahoma State is ineligible to participate due to a postseason ban, so there will only be nine teams in this year’s event. That will help the Cowboys’ rival Oklahoma, as they are now slotted into the quarterfinals and don’t have to worry about playing in the first round. The Big 12 has been the best conference in college basketball this season, and both Baylor and Kansas are gunning for No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

The 2022 Big 12 Tournament will be held from March 9-12 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This tournament has been held in Kansas City since 2010, and that gives Kansas a bit of a boost due to the program’s proximity.

Baylor claimed its first national championship in program history last year. The Bears lost to Oklahoma State in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, but they handled all six of their opponents to win the title and won each game by at least nine points. They lost their three leading scorers from last season, yet Baylor won 15 straight games to start this year and showed they still need to be respected despite the turnover. Texas Tech has been a consistent problem for Baylor this year though, dealing the Bears two of their five total losses.

Bill Self has another great team at Kansas. The Jayhawks might be primed to make the Final Four for the first time in four seasons, and they are the top team entering the Big 12 Tournament. This is one of the most efficient offenses in the country, but Kansas lost road games to the other top four seeds in this conference tournament. Kansas needs a great performance from Ochai Agbaji to win another Big 12 title, as he is the team’s leading scorer (19.8 PPG) and best three-point shooter (41.1%).

Texas Tech has lost some tough games, but the Red Raiders have shown they can take down the best teams in the Big 12. They are 2-0 against Baylor, and they handled Kansas at home. They fell in double overtime to the Jayhawks in Lawrence, so they are just a single point away from being 4-0 against the two best teams in the Big 12. Bryson Williams is the only reliable three-point shooter on this team, but Texas Tech plays exceptional defense and ranks first nationally in defensive efficiency.

Being on the bubble is nothing new for Jamie Dixon and TCU. The Horned Frogs have been on the bubble four times in Dixon’s six years in Fort Worth, and they know they need a win or two in the Big 12 Tournament to feel good about their chances of taking part in March Madness. TCU has really struggled against the top teams in the conference though, and the Horned Frogs must beat a Texas team that knocked off TCU twice in the regular season.
