SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: KANSS CITY CHIEFS AT LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

Try as they might, the Los Angeles Chargers have not ruined this match up we’ve all had circled on our calendars since the schedule was first announced. The Kansas City Chiefs look like the best team in football, but the Chargers will have the chance to prove them wrong when they lock horns on Sunday Night Football.
As two of the original AFL franchises, this rivalry goes all the way back to the 1960 inaugural season. This will be the 126th all time meeting between the two clubs, with Kansas City holding a 66-58-1 advantage in the head to head record. They last played on Sep. 15, with the Chiefs claiming a 27-24 win in Arrowhead. Patrick Mahomes finished the game 24 of 35 for 235 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed eight times for 74 yards and hauled in four passes for 44 yards. Travis Kelce caught five balls for 51 yards.
In the losing effort, Justin Herbert threw for 334 yards, three touchdowns and a pick. Austin Ekeler rushed for 39 yards and had nine receptions for 55 yards. Mike Williams hauled in eight passes for 113 yards and a touchdown.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (7-2)
The Chiefs put in a solid day’s work last Sunday, knocking off the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-17. Patrick Mahomes ended his afternoon 26 of 35 for 331 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Isaiah Pacheco rushed 16 times for 82 yards. Travis Kelce hauled in six passes for 81 yards and a score. Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught three for 60 and a touchdown.
The defense sacked Trevor Lawrence five times and held the Jags to just 75 total yards on the ground.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (5-4)
The Chargers just become the latest Los Angeles based team to be adopted into the loving home of the San Francisco 49ers. Last week, the Niners proved their SoCal paternity was complete, beating the Chargers 22-16.
Justin Herbert ended his evening 21 of 35 for 196 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He was sacked twice and added 22 yards on the ground. Austin Ekeler rushed for 24 yards and caught seven passes for 44. Deandre Carter caught four passes for 64 yards and a score.
The defense sacked Jimmy Garoppolo once and forced a fumble.
THE PICK
I’m a firm believer in picking Kansas City until they give me a real reason not to. Mahomes doesn’t seem to be in the MVP conversation, but from my eyes, he probably should be leading it. LA’s better this year, but they still can’t be counted on to deliver week to week. Chiefs 34, Chargers 27
