Wrestlemania 40: Will it be Bloodline (-600) rules for the American Nightmare?

It’s being billed as the biggest tag team match in Wrestlemania history and it’s hard to
argue otherwise. On one side, representing The Bloodline, is the Undisputed WWE
Universal Champion Roman Reigns paired with one of the most famous humans to walk
the planet in The Rock. On the other side, two-time Royal Rumble winner in the
American Nightmare Cody Rhodes is tagging with the WWE World Heavyweight
Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Need I say more?
Blood is Thicker Than Water
The Bloodline was one of the most powerful factions of all-time prior to The Rock
entering the picture. You already have the most dominant champion of the modern-era
in Roman Reigns on the card and then you mix one of the certified G.O.A.Ts in The
Rock into the picture and they have to be considered the favorite in this match. The two
have yet to tag together but even with their lack of “chemistry”, they have the x-factor in
Solo Sikoa waiting in the wings. Sikoa and his Samoan spike finisher cost Rhodes the
title at Wrestlemania 39, so we already know that the threat of outside interference is
real.
The Enemy of My Enemy
It’s safe to say that these two competitors definitely have a checkered history since their
first encounter at Wrestlemania 38. They’ve met at three PLE’s with Rhodes taking each
bout but now Rollins has come to the aid of the American Nightmare. Now, here they
are, teaming together in a match that has enormous implications on Rhodes vs. Reigns
on Night 2. The Night 1 tag team match has the added stipulation that should Rhodes
and Rollins win, then Cody’s championship match on Night 2 will see The Bloodline
barred from ringside. But, in the event that they lose, the WWE Universal Championship
match will be contested under Bloodline rules which means anything goes.
It is basically a must win match for “the son of a plumber”.
The Pick: Roman Reigns & The Rock -600
The stipulation in this match kind of gives it away doesn’t it? You have to have the odds
stacked against the hero only for them to come out victorious. It makes sense for Rollins
and Rhodes to lose so that Cody has his back against the wall on Night 2 where we will
get an “anything goes” match. That also means anybody can interfere, which will
happen, but on both sides.
Rumors have been circulating that WWE is trying to get John Cena, The Undertaker
and Stone Cold Steve Austin involved in the big event. While they all wouldn’t be
involved in this contest, you could definitely see John Cena run interference in the
match to even the odds. He has history with the Bloodline and is the ultimate good guy
who we could see helping the company’s top babyface on Night 2.
