Paul George Statistical Performance Prop Bets

The LA Clippers pulled something of an ’11th hour’ surprise in signing Kawhi Leonard when it looked as if he’d be comprising the third head of a three headed purple and gold monster with the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, the Clippers are now Kawhi’s team and he’s brought in a very talented co-conspirator in former Oklahoma City swingman Paul George. Even though Kawhi and George are the ‘marquee names’ the Clippers already had a very talented nucleus that started to show their ability during a tough opening round playoff battle against the Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers are now favored to win the championship based on the NBA futures betting odds. The Clippers are also favored to win the Pacific Division (-125) and Western Conference (+175) along with the NBA Championship (+300). On one level, it feels a bit premature to anoint a Clippers team with a dubious legacy of postseason success as the NBA Championship favorites. ‘Upon further review’, however, it makes a lot more sense than the previous championship favorite–LeBron’s new look Lakers. With the Clippers, Kawhi and George are joining what was already a very talented team that had started to really come together as the season ended.

In a previous post, we looked at some NBA regular season prop bets on Kawhi Leonard’s statistical performance for the Clippers during the 2019-2020 NBA season. In this point, we’ll consider a few similar propositions for Paul George:

PAUL GEORGE ASSISTS PER GAME 2019-2020 NBA REGULAR SEASON

Over 3.5 APG -115
Under 3.5 APG -115

PAUL GEORGE POINTS PER GAME 2019-2020 NBA REGULAR SEASON

Over 22.5 PPG -115
Under 22.5 PPG -115

PAUL GEORGE REBOUNDS PER GAME 2019-2020 NBA REGULAR SEASON

Over 6.5 RPG -115
Under 6.5 RPG -115

As we did with Leonard, we’ll start evaluating these props by taking a look at what George did during the 2018-2019 NBA season. As a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, George averaged 28 PPG, 8.2 RPG and 4.1 APG. It’s a little more difficult to evaluate George’s role within the Clippers framework than it is Leonard. The Thunder *needed* George to score more than the Clippers will. The only other top flight scorer on the Thunder was Russell Westbrook while on the Clippers he’ll have two teammates capable of scoring 20+ PPG with Kawhi and Lou Williams.

Rebounding is a bit of a question mark. The Thunder were a very good rebounding team last year while the Clippers could use some improvement in that area. Much of this depends on George’s role within the Clippers team concept but at the end of the day he’ll likely play a significant role in the team’s rebounding. The assists are a similar deal–OKC wasn’t a good assists team a year ago but the way that the Clippers will derive much of their offense it appears that George and Leonard will derive most of the scoring attention. That means plenty of opportunity to find open teammates and a likely boost in assists.

BET PAUL GEORGE OVER 3.5 ASSISTS PER GAME -130
BET PAUL GEORGE UNDER 22.5 POINTS PER GAME -115
BET PAUL GEORGE OVER 6.5 REBOUNDS PER GAME -115
