Week 9 NFL Football ATS Power Rankings 17-32

32. ATLANTA FALCONS (2-6)
WEEK 8 RANK: 32

Credit the Falcons for picking up their second cover of the season, but they still have a hold on the bottom spot. They were down 24-0 at halftime and managed a backdoor cover with nine points in the game’s final moments, losing 27-20 as 7.5-point underdogs.

31. CLEVELAND BROWNS (2-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 26

The Browns faced a murderer’s row in their last three games (San Francisco, Seattle, New England) and failed to cover each time. Even worse, they weren’t particularly close to covering. Luckily, the schedule is going to ease up for a week. They’ll face the Broncos with Brandon Allen at quarterback. Allen, a 2016 sixth-round pick of the Jaguars, has never taken a snap in the regular season.

30. NEW YORK JETS (2-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 24

New York’s comeback story hit another snag with a 14-point loss to the Jaguars as seven-point underdogs. Offensive line woes and borderline coaching malpractice (Le’Veon Bell has just 10 targets and five receptions in his last three games) don’t give us much optimism about the Jets.

29. CHICAGO BEARS (2-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 23

The Bears have now lost as favorites three times in a row. The Chargers were supposed to be a “get-right” opportunity, but they failed again after a missed field goal as time expired. Of course, even if they had made the field goal, they still wouldn’t have covered. Chicago is not a good bet right now.

28. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (2-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 22

Tampa faced a Titans team that hadn’t covered since Week 4 and promptly put an end to their losing streak while extending their own. The Bucs still haven’t covered since their big upset of the Rams. They’ll have another chance for a big NFC West upset this week when they travel to Seattle.

27. BALTIMORE RAVENS (2-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 25

Baltimore was unfortunate to drop a couple of spots during their bye week, but the teams below them had a good week. The Ravens will make a big leap if they can cover against New England this week.

26. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (2-4-2)
WEEK 8 RANK: 28

The Chargers put an end to their three-game ATS losing streak with a win over Chicago. Ken Whisenhunt is out as offensive coordinator, so maybe LA’s struggling offense will get a boost against Green Bay.

25. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 31

At last, the Redskins have a legit cover. They’ve also covered twice in a row, so we can’t keep them in the cellar any longer. A trip to Buffalo awaits.

24. NEW YORK GIANTS (3-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 27

The Giants barely ended their three-game ATS losing streak with a 31-26 loss to the Lions as 6.5-point underdogs. A Saquon Barkley touchdown reception in the game’s final moment put New York over the top. Now they’ll have their second meeting with the Cowboys, against whom they failed to win or cover in Week 1.

23. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (3-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 30

The Eagles had what was clearly their best cover of the season on Sunday in a 31-13 win over the Bills as one-point underdogs. They make a big leap up the rankings with room for another one considering they face the struggling Bears this week.

22. MIAMI DOLPHINS (3-4)
WEEK 8 RANK: 29

Three covers in a row for the unstoppable Dolphins. Watching them play is migraine-inducing, but they could be a decent bet as long as they continue to be double-digit underdogs. That probably won’t happen this week against the Jets.

21. CINCINNATI BENGALS (3-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 20

As is usually the case, the Bengals were in the running for a cover on Sunday. They ended up losing to the Rams by 14 as 12-point underdogs. They’ll mercifully limp into the bye and possibly come out a bit healthier. A.J. Green and Cordy Glenn should be back, assuming they don’t get traded.

20. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-5)
WEEK 8 RANK: 19

The Seahawks looked like they were going to cruise to an easy cover until they relaxed and let the Falcons make the score look respectable. The 7-point win as 7.5-point favorites was Seattle’s first ATS loss on the road this season. They’ll return home to face the Bucs this week.

19. TENNESSEE TITANS (3-4-1)
WEEK 8 RANK: 21

Tennessee’s three-game ATS losing streak came to an end thanks to a game-winning touchdown catch by A.J. Brown. Maybe Ryan Tannehill really is the starter the Titans need. This week they’ll face a Panthers team that will look to rebound from a blowout loss to San Francisco.

18. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-4)
WEEK 8 RANK: 14

Give Kansas City credit for showing against Green Bay, but it wasn’t enough for the cover. Expect to see Matt Moore again this week in a home matchup with the Vikings.

17. DENVER BRONCOS (4-4)
WEEK 8 RANK: 18

The Broncos covered against Indy but are about to start a quarterback that has never thrown a pass in a real NFL game. Joe Flacco has been bad, but if Brandon Allen were better then we probably would have seen him by now. Denver probably won’t be very fun to watch until Drew Lock takes over.
