2021 League of Legends World Championship Finals Betting Preview

DWG KIA can become just the second team to repeat as world champions in League of Legends this weekend. They have been the most impressive team of the tournament, and they were unbeaten before their scare against T1 in the semifinals. Edward Gaming have not looked as strong, finishing behind T1 in the Group Stage, leading to the LPL champions being a sizeable underdog ahead of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship Finals.
2021 League of Legends World Championship Finals Betting Odds
Edward Gaming +285
DWG KIA -370
Few teams have been as impressive in the history of Worlds as DWG KIA. They have now won three straight LCK titles, and they went undefeated in the Group Stage before sweeping LEC champions MAD Lions in the quarterfinals. DWG KIA went down 2-1 to T1 in the semifinals before roaring back to win the series, and they have a clear advantage in three positions ahead of the finals against Edward Gaming.
ShowMaker is the best mid laner in the world. He leads all players with an 8.4 KDA, and he has shown that he is elite on both control mages and assassin champions. ShowMaker is carrying a 15.0 KDA on LeBlanc, and he has been great on Twisted Fate too.
DWG KIA have the best jungler in the world too. Canyon is carrying a 6.6 KDA, and he has made some incredible plays on Lee Sin. That is not a champion that you typically use a ban on in a series, but we may see EDG ban it away from him.
Top laner Khan is playing on another level too. Khan leads the team in damage, and he has tossed aside all the doubts that he no longer has what it takes to be competitive at the highest level. This is his last hurrah as he must join the military after this because of Korea’s mandatory service requirement, but he has made it count.
Before the start of Worlds, you could make the claim that Flandre was a better top laner than Khan. Flandre had been very good in the LPL, but he has not played well at Worlds despite his high damage numbers. He has been caught out of position far too often, and he has not performed great in team fights either.
The one area where EDG has a definite advantage is in the bottom lane. Viper is probably the best AD Carry in the world, and he can hard carry the team in the late game and in team fights. Meiko is a veteran support that can do a lot, but he has struggled in the enchanter support meta. Viper has had some positioning issues too, leading to EDG not being at its peak during Worlds.
It’s clear that DWG KIA is the better team in this series. Their one supposed weak link (Khan) is playing well, and this is a meta that helps them tremendously as Ghost can’t be punished as much since the LPL teams haven’t been as good on enchanter supports. That should lead to a 3-0 or 3-1 victory for DWG KIA, placing them with T1 and Gen. G in the pantheon of teams that have won multiple World Championships.
