2021 League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals Betting Preview

Both Western regions will be represented in the knockout rounds of the League of Legends World Championship thanks to two improbable comebacks. Cloud9 overcame all odds to best FunPlus Phoenix and Rogue to finish behind world champions DWG KIA in Group A, while MAD Lions earned a spot in the quarterfinals after the first ever four-way tie in Worlds history. There are four Korean teams and two Chinese teams that have made it to this stage as well, and those teams are the favorites to advance to make it to the semifinals.
2021 League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals Betting Odds
T1 -263
Hanwha Life Esports +195
T1 should be a larger favorite to make it to the semifinals. The three-time world champions are playing very well, and they are clearly the second-best Korean team behind DWG KIA. Faker has reinvented himself once again, and Keria is thriving at support. Oner is performing very well in the jungle, and that is covering up some of the itemization issues with Gumayusi and the gameplay issues with Canna.
Hanwha Life have an S-Tier mid laner in Chovy, but the rest of the team is not great. There’s a reason LS and others have dubbed this team Chovy Life Esports, and their improbable run to Worlds will now come to an end.
Royal Never Give Up +107
Edward Gaming -128
This is seen as the most even series according to the oddsmakers. Money has been coming in on Royal Never Give Up, but that’s a bit of an eyebrow raiser considering the only truly elite player on RNG is Xiaohu. Meanwhile, Edward Gaming boasts perhaps the best bottom laner in the world in Viper. The former Griffin bottom laner hasn’t been at his best just yet with a 5.6 KDA and is only dealing 24.2% of his team’s damage, but Scout is performing very well, and Flandre is dealing considerable damage.
DWG KIA -1000
MAD Lions +616
ShowMaker can move into rarified air if he leads DWG KIA to the 2021 League of Legends World Championship. DWG KIA went 6-0 in the Group Stage and is now the overwhelming favorite to repeat as champions. Khan has been playing out of his mind in the top lane, and Canyon is thriving in the jungle. The bottom lane hasn’t been great, but they don’t need to be if ShowMaker keeps a 14.2 KDA. The MAD Lions have been largely figured out, so DWG KIA shouldn’t drop more than one game in this series.
Gen.G -244
Cloud9 +195
If you are going to back an underdog in the quarterfinals, Cloud9 is the team to wager on at this price. Gen.G have been wildly inconsistent this year, while Cloud9 are full of veteran players and proven performers like Perkz, Zven, and Vulcan. Blaber can be a real difference maker in the jungle, and C9 can upset Gen.G on Monday.
