2022 League of Legends LCS Summer Split Week 3 Preview

Counter Logic Gaming continues to be the biggest surprise in the LCS through the first two weeks of the Summer Split. CLG is tied with Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses for first place at 4-1, and they were already able to knock off Evil Geniuses. This team still has a long way to go before they qualify for playoffs, but there is reason to be excited about CLG for the first time in years.

Team SoloMid +197
Evil Geniuses -278

TSM isn’t the abject disaster they were in the spring. The once-proud organization rose up to knock off Team Liquid last week, and their talented pieces are starting to play more as a team. Maple has been a big help in the mid lane, and this team could challenge for the playoffs if Tactical rediscovers his old form.

Still, Evil Geniuses have to be the play here because they continually have a strong grasp on the meta. Inspired has a 7.1 KDA in the jungle, and Danny has been superb on Ezreal in the bottom lane.

FlyQuest -128
Dignitas -103

It looks like Dignitas may be the worst team in the LCS this split. Dignitas doesn’t have a good bottom lane, and Gamsu has not performed very well in the top lane. River and Blue have chemistry in jungle and the mid lane, but this is not a meta where mid laners can win games on their own.

FlyQuest has an excellent mid laner in Toucouille, and the bottom lane of Johnson and Aphromoo is better than that of Dignitas. Their weakness in the top lane can’t be exploited by Dignitas, so FlyQuest has great value as a short favorite.

100 Thieves +119
Team Liquid -159

This is the best match on Saturday. Team Liquid are definitely the most talented team in the LCS, but they have had trouble coming together. It’s rare to see an AD Carry have the worst KDA on a team, yet that is the case with Hans Sama. He is carrying a 3.9 KDA per Games of Legends ahead of this match.

Meanwhile, 100 Thieves are more of a cohesive unit. They have spent the last year playing together at this point, so they know each other’s intricacies. That could give them the edge they need to pull off the upset this weekend.

Golden Guardians -164
Immortals +123

It’s a little surprising that Golden Guardians is only this much of a favorite against Immortals. Golden Guardians have looked solid this year, while Immortals have only defeated FlyQuest. Immortals has the worst cumulative KDA in the league at 0.39, and top performer PowerOfEvil is somewhat mitigated in this meta.

Cloud9 -227
Counter Logic Gaming +166

We saw C9 return to form after an 0-3 start with two wins last week. Berserker and Zven were a significant upgrade in the bottom lane over Destiny and K1ng, and that unlocked a lot of things for C9. However, they probably shouldn’t be this much of a favorite over a 4-1 team considering what we have seen from them.
