G2 Esports’ Utter Collapse is the Story of the LEC Summer Split

What is wrong with G2 Esports? The winners of the last three LEC championships and the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational champions look completely lost. They have lost four straight matches to drop to 5-7 in the LEC Summer Split, and the Kings of Europe are in real danger of missing out on the postseason. It might be time to push the panic button after Friday’s loss to Schalke, so we might finally see some changes in this lineup.
2020 LEAGUE OF LEGENDS LEC SUMMER SPLIT WEEK 6 BETTING ODDS
EXCEL ESPORTS -125
TEAM VITALITY -110
We saw some sharp play out of both Excel and Vitality on Friday, and that has both teams in the hunt for the postseason. Caedrel was strong in the jungle for Excel, while Kryze finally had another solid game in the top lane after lacking consistency for much of the Spring Split. This team still runs through Patrik though, as the bottom laner has doled out 33.5 percent of his team’s damage per Games of Legends.
Vitality played well too as Labrov was sensational on Bard. That was his second strong game on the playmaking support, so don’t be surprised if Excel look to keep it out of his hands. Milica continues to scale for the late game with his picks, playing Azir and Corki more often than any other champions, but that can be exploited. That’s why Excel has a slight edge per the Esports betting odds.
MISFITS GAMING -280
FC SCHALKE 04 +200
Abbedagge put together his best performance of the Summer Split to lead Schalke past G2 on Friday. He constantly caught G2 out of position with his Azir ultimates, serving champions up to his waiting teammates. Prior to that performance, he had a 1.2 KDA this split, the lowest of any mid laner in the region. Schalke have now defeated the two juggernauts of the region in G2 and Fnatic, but they are still in last place with a 2-10 record.
Misfits have lost three straight matches. They are tied for sixth with G2, Excel, and Vitality at 5-7, and their execution in recent weeks has been lacking. We have seen this team blow early leads too often, so it’s difficult to trust them as a sizable favorite. That creates real value in Schalke to pull off their first 2-0 weekend.
G2 ESPORTS -145
ROGUE +105
This line is utterly absurd. G2 are in disarray right now, and they should not be favored over 10-2 Rogue. Rogue aren’t a perfect team, but they have showcased plenty of skill over the last few weeks. Larssen has been incredible with a 9.6 KDA and a 32.7 kill percentage, while Inspired continues to shine in the jungle.
Jankos has been on tilt these last couple weeks. The two-time league MVP is trying to force things way too often out of the jungle, and his decision making has been subpar. Perkz is being caught out of position as well due to his aggression, so G2 are a stay away until they clean up their problems. This is the best value on Saturday per the League of Legends betting odds.
MAD LIONS -335
SK GAMING +230
The rise of MAD Lions has been the most positive story of the Summer Split. These Lions are roaring and should finish either first or second. They have beaten every team but Misfits Gaming at least once, and they shouldn’t have much trouble with SK Gaming.
There is a massive disparity between the junglers on these teams. Shadow is the best jungler in the region right now, while Trick is arguably the worst jungler in the LEC. For SK to pull off the upset, Crownshot has to play great, but it’s going to be difficult for him to make a big difference.
FNATIC -135
ORIGEN +100
Upset is being held back by the play in support from Origen. Destiny failed to get the job done so the organization brought in Jactroll, but Vitality showed how predictable he can be with his flanks on Friday. Meanwhile, Hylissang is anything but predictable for Fnatic in the same position.
Selfmade has been one of the top junglers in the Summer Split. He has been great at making plays in the early game, so we’ll put our faith in him to lead Fnatic to the win.
