A tradition unlike any other will take place in November for the first time ever. This year’s Masters will be an unusual event for so many reasons, but golf fans around the world are excited that it will indeed be taking place. Tee times have been moved up on Saturday and Sunday to account for football, and College Gameday will even be live at Augusta National Golf Club for the first time ever on Saturday morning. There will be 16 former champions trying to earn another Green Jacket this weekend, including defending champion Tiger Woods.
Event Details
Event: Masters Tournament
Category: PGA Tour Major
Date: November 12-15, 2020
Location: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia
Past Winners
2019: Tiger Woods -13
2018: Patrick Reed -15
2017: Sergio Garcia -9
2016: Danny Willett -5
2015: Jordan Spieth -18
Sergio Garcia won’t be in Augusta this week after testing positive for COVID-19, but the other recent winners will take part in this year’s Masters. Woods is a five-time winner, but he is a 33-1 longshot and would be at least 50-1 if his recent play was tied to any other name. Bubba Watson and Patrick Reed are the two former champions with the lowest odds at 30-1, so there is a decent chance we see a debutante claim his first green jacket.
The Course
This is the most iconic course in the United States, so it needs no introduction to golf fans. Every hole has a specific name, and the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes are collectively called Amen Corner. All 18 holes are named after a different type of plant, and the azaleas are synonymous with the Masters. They won’t be in bloom at this time of year, but these holes will all challenge golfers to be at their best.
Value Play to Win the Tournament: Bubba Watson +3000
Watson is 42 years old, but Woods won this tournament at the age of 43 last year. He has looked strong in recent weeks with a T7 finish at the CJ Cup and a T4 at the Zozo Championship three weeks ago, and Watson has always played well at the Masters. We saw him put on a green jacket in 2012 and 2014, winning the latter event by three strokes over Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt. After a run of subpar showings on this course from 2015 to 2017, Watson has finished fifth and 12th in the last two tournaments.
Top 5 Prop: Jon Rahm +220
The Spaniard is red hot coming into this year’s Masters. We saw him showcase his skills here with a hole in one that skipped across the water on Tuesday, and he is ready to break through. Rahm finished T2 at his last event, and he has won both the Memorial and the BMW Championship within the last four months. He finished fourth at the 2018 Masters and ninth at the 2019 Masters, so he is well worth a play at this price.
