2022 Odds To Win The American League West

The American League West is the home to a ton of incredible talents around the league. Players like Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and Jose Altuve are just a few of the names that are located here in this division. Which of them are going to be able to play on the team that wins the division title, and what are the odds that they do so?

Houston Astros

Odds: -145

Houston is the most talented team in the division but their offseason hasn’t been entirely convincing. They lost their star shortstop Carlos Correa after he left to chase a much larger contract. They also lost out on players from their bullpen. However, they were still able to retain Justin Verlander by signing him to an extension. Pitching is an interesting area for Houston this season, but if they can add some more talent there before the year starts, they are still a solid bet to take the AL West.

Los Angeles Angels

Odds: +390

The Los Angeles Angels haven’t been contenders in a while. They have lost out on a playoff spot for six straight years now. However, it looks like they are ready to turn it around. First of all, they have Shohei Ohtani on their roster. The superstar got his first All-Star nomination, earned the Silver Slugger award and claimed the AL MVP in just last season. They still have Mike Trout here as well, forming one of the best duos in the sport. Los Angeles then turned around and signed Noah Syndergaard in free agency to make a splash. Some have labeled this group as being the most competitive Angels squad we have seen in a while.

Seattle Mariners

Odds: +450

The Seattle Mariners are coming off of a very disappointing season. Their batting average dipped down to .211 during the month of April and lost 15 games in May due to a .199 team batting average. Throughout the offseason so far, it has been very clear that they don’t want that to happen ever again. They grabbed Adam Frazier, Jesse Winker and Robbie Ray at the beginning of the free agency period. Ray was the most notable of the three, being a CY Young winner in the past. The potential is definitely there for a turnaround season.

Oakland Athletics

Odds: +800

Unfortunately, Oakland won’t be getting their starting centerfielder back into the rotation for the beginning of the year. Ramon Laureano is still serving the large 80-game suspension that he got for violation of PEDs. The Athletics were unable to hold onto three strong players on their roster including Starline Marte, Josh Harrison and Mark Canha. Oh, and they traded away Chris Bassitt despite him having an incredible 2021 campaign with a 3.15 ERA. It looks clear right now that the organization is heading towards a rebuild faster than they are for the division title.

Texas Rangers

Odds: +2000

The Texas Rangers just endured their fifth straight losing season. This offseason, they entered with a determination to outbid any team when they saw a player that they wanted. They did just that before the lockout began. They nabbed Corey Seager, Jon Gray, Kole Calhoun and Marcus Semien. All of them combined cost approximately $561.2 million. Texas then got rid of Jordan Lyles, who posted a horrible 5.15 ERA in 30 starts for them last season. This is going to be a better roster than we have seen in previous years, but is it enough to contend for a division title? The answer is no, not right now.
