Two of the top women’s strawweight fighters in the world will meet in the headline clash of UFC Fight Night 177, AKA UFC Vegas 10. Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill were originally supposed to meet in the co-main event three weeks ago, but the fight was moved back due to personal reasons for Waterson. Despite the delay, she is the favorite to pick up the win by the MMA betting odds.
UFC Fight Night 177 will be broadcast in its entirety on ESPN Plus. It will be held at the UFC APEX center in Las Vegas, Nevada with the preliminary card starting at 5 p.m. ET, and the main card kicking off at 8 p.m. ET.
UFC Fight Night 177: Waterson vs. Hill Betting Odds
Michelle Waterson -155
Angela Hill +135
Both women were champions while fighting for Invicta FC. Michelle Waterson held the Atomweight Championship for 20 months, while Angela Hill won the Strawweight Championship and defended the title once before leaving for the UFC.
Waterson has had an up-and-down career since coming to the UFC. She secured a quick submission win over Paige VanZant to win Performance of the Night in her first bout, but she lost to Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres in her next two fights. Waterson won three straight fights after the defeat, including a unanimous victory over Karolina Kowalkiewicz, before dropping bouts to Carla Esparza and Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the last year. Since joining the UFC, Waterson is 4-4 and her last six fights all went to the judges’ cards.
It’s been a similar experience for Hill. She is 6-6 in the UFC, and nine of her 12 fights have gone the distance. Hill has been on the come-up recently though, and her split decision loss to Claudia Gadelha was somewhat controversial, so she is an intriguing option as an underdog by the UFC betting line.
Andrea Lee -310
Roxanne Modafferi +260
Modafferi is ranked one spot above Lee in the UFC rankings, but Lee is a heavy favorite in this bout. Lee has lost her last two fights, but she won seven straight fights before those defeats, including her first three bouts with the UFC. Her two losses were both by split decision, so she knows how close she is to becoming one of the best flyweights in the division.
The underdog will turn 38 later this month, and she has alternated wins and losses over her last eight fights. Modafferi fought for the inaugural UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship, and we saw her defeat Antonina Shevchenko and Maycee Barber in the last 18 months. Her last five fights have gone to a decision, so these are juicy odds for Modafferi given the circumstances.
Mike Rodriguez -230
Ed Herman +195
Since joining the UFC, Mike Rodriguez has three wins in six fights with the promotion. This is an awfully quick turnaround for him though as he took part in the undercard of Pedro Munhoz’s fight against Frankie Edgar three weeks ago. Rodriguez dominated Marcin Prachnio in that fight, knocking him out in the first round.
We haven’t seen Ed Herman in the Octagon since last November. Herman has won his last two bouts ahead of this fight, but he lost three straight bouts prior to those victories. He is a submission specialist with 13 of his 25 victories coming via submission, so the underdog could be the play here too.
Bobby Green -260
Alan Patrick +220
This will be Bobby Green’s 38th fight, making him one of the most experienced MMA fighters in the world. Green is 26-10 in his career, and he has a decent all-around game, but it would be wise to bet this bout to go the distance as 10 of his last 11 fights have went to the cards.
Alan Patrick is older than Green, but he has taken part in less than half the fights. Patrick has yet to beat a marquee opponent, so this is the lone time to lay the chalk with the favorite in UFC Fight Night 177.
