UFC on ABC: Holloway vs. Kattar Betting Preview
The UFC will return to Fight Island for its first event of the 2021 calendar year. History will be made as the UFC will be broadcast on ABC for the first time. This will be the first MMA promotion on network television in over two years, and it will be a doozy as Max Holloway takes on Calvin Kattar in the main event. Holloway and Kattar are two of the best featherweights in the business.
UFC on ABC: Holloway vs. Kattar will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 3 p.m. ET in the Etihad Arena in Yas Island off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
UFC on ABC: Holloway vs. Kattar Betting Odds
Max Holloway -158
Calvin Kattar +138
Holloway held the featherweight title for three years before losing to Alexander Volkanovski in December 2019. He took down Anthony Pettis, Jose Aldo (twice), Brian Ortega, and Frankie Edgar before losing, and he is hungry after losing his rematch with Volkanovski by split decision. His prior dominance makes him the favorite coming into his match with Kattar.
This is the biggest fight yet for Kattar. He is still looking for his first title shot, and he is 6-2 in his UFC career. Kattar has given us some great bouts with a Fight of the Night win over Shane Burgos and a Fight of the Night loss against Zabit Magomedsharipov over the course of his time in the promotion. He was sharp last year with a second-round knockout of Jeremy Stephens and a unanimous decision win over Dan Ige.
The play has to be Holloway at this price. Kattar has yet to prove himself against the best fighters in the business, while Holloway has only lost to top tier fighters.
Carlos Condit -171
Matt Brown +146
It’s been a rough past five years for Carlos Condit. The former UFC welterweight title holder has not been the same fighter since he lost a split decision to Robbie Lawler in his bid to reclaim the welterweight belt in January 2016. Condit has since been submitted in the first two rounds three times and lost a unanimous decision to Neil Magny. He lost five straight bouts before securing a unanimous decision win over Court McGee in October.
Brown has had an incredible career with UFC. He has been part of the promotion for over a dozen years, establishing himself as a fan favorite. While he never climbed the mountain top, he has secured some nice victories over fighters like Tim Means and Ben Saunders. Brown is a live dog at these UFC betting odds.
Santiago Ponzinibbio -305
Jingliang Li +255
We’ve seen Ponzinibbio make a name for himself over the last five years. He has won seven straight fights, but it’s been more than two years since he entered the ring. Ponzinibbio was forced to back out of a fight with Kamaru Usman due to injury, and a staph infection sidelined him for a significant amount of time. He was originally supposed to take on Muslim Salikhov in his return, but Jingliang Li had to fill in for Salikhov due to injury.
Li isn’t too impressive with a loss to Neil Magny in his last bout, but he is worth a flier on Saturday. Ponzinibbio should not be this much of a favorite given his time outside of the Octagon.
