NBA Team Win Total Odds Part 1

The NBA regular season doesn’t begin until late October but that doesn’t mean we’re not already thinking about it and looking at pro basketball odds. In fact, this is a perfect time to start shopping around and looking for the best value prices on season long bets such as NBA win total odds. There’s a lot to cover so we’ll need multiple articles to get it all in.

Let’s start at the top of the NBA prop bet board at BetOnline.ag and look at a wager for the highest win total in the entire league:

The Milwaukee Bucks led the NBA with 60 wins last season and that will be tough to top this year. Free agency, trades and injuries have dramatically altered the competitive balance of the league. Teams that go through a significant personnel upheaval–good or bad–need time to get themselves back into a cohesive unit. The result will be a lot more parity at the top with a number of very good teams fighting it out. There just doesn’t look to be a team capable of dominating in the regular season.

Can the Atlanta Hawks improve by 5.5 wins this year? They went from 24 to 29 wins last season and they’ve got one of the most underrated young talents in the league in pointguard Trae Young and a nice inside presece with rugged power forward John Collins. The Hawks realized that they had to rebuild a few years ago and went with youth. That should pay dividends this year.

Boston regressed to 49 wins last year after winning 55 the previous season. The way this is supposed to work is that getting rid of Kyrie Irving is ‘addition by subtraction’ and the Celtics will be back to their winning ways. Not sure I’m buying that. The East has become more competitive over the past couple of seasons and it’s going to be difficult for Boston to get back into the 50+ win range just by shipping Irving out of town.

Brooklyn won the Kevin Durant sweepstakes but that does them little good this year. Durant could miss the entire season as he rehabs from his Achilles Tendon injury meaning the team is a year away from being a serious threat in the East. Brooklyn was putting together a nice young team built around Caris LeVert but it’s unclear how the delicate chemistry balance will be transformed due to their decision to open the checkbook for Durant. This year, Irving will be the focal point of the offense and that’s not necessarily a good thing. Nets will be hard pressed to reprise their success from last year.
