2021 NFL MVP Odds – Week 9

Unfortunately, we won’t see a non-quarterback win the NFL MVP this season. Derrick Henry was the only player with a real chance of keeping a quarterback from earning the honor, but his chances went kaput after a potentially season-ending injury last Sunday. Henry will still lead the NFL in rushing yards for another week or two, but he won’t be able to put up the numbers needed to become the first non-quarterback to win the NFL MVP since new teammate Adrian Peterson.

Josh Allen

This Week’s Odds: +225

Last Week’s Odds: +500

The betting odds on Josh Allen have moved considerably over the last couple weeks. Allen was 9-1 two weeks ago, but now he is seen as the strong favorite as Buffalo continues to dismantle bad teams. He can light up the stat sheet against Jacksonville and the New York Jets these next two weeks, yet he has to be considered a pass at this price. The Bills have yet to beat a team with a winning record, losing to Pittsburgh and Tennessee this season.

Tom Brady

This Week’s Odds: +500

Last Week’s Odds: +400

Although Tampa Bay lost on the road to New Orleans last week, Tom Brady’s odds didn’t take too much of a hit. He threw two picks in the loss to the Saints, but he also threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the NFL. His odds won’t move much this week since the Buccaneers have the week off.

Matthew Stafford

This Week’s Odds: +525

Last Week’s Odds: +1000

The Los Angeles Rams are now the team to beat in the NFC. They are 7-1 and traded for Von Miller to make this defense even more scary. That has made Matthew Stafford a real MVP contender, and he is living up to the offseason hype after the Rams traded for him. Stafford is averaging 9.1 YPA with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions, and the offensive line has only allowed him to be sacked seven times in eight games. He has arguably the NFL’s best receiver in Cooper Kupp, so it might be wise to jump on Stafford now before his odds get any lower.

Kyler Murray

This Week’s Odds: +600

Last Week’s Odds: +550

Stay away from betting on Kyler Murray at this point. Arizona is 7-1 and atop the NFC West, but the Cardinals will be facing multiple tough defenses over the next month. Seattle is the only team that doesn’t have good overall defensive numbers, but the Seahawks have considerably improved on defense. This is a one-dimensional team that will struggle in cold weather too.

Dak Prescott

This Week’s Odds: +700

Last Week’s Odds: +550

This is a good time to buy into Dak Prescott. Denver’s defense took a big hit with the loss of long-time star Von Miller, and the Cowboys won’t play another good defense until December. They play Atlanta, Kansas City, and Las Vegas in the following three weeks, so Prescott could put up some big numbers and challenge Allen as a favorite.

Aaron Rodgers

This Week’s Odds: +850

Last Week’s Odds: +900

It’s pretty surprising that Aaron Rodgers’ MVP odds didn’t change much after he was diagnosed with COVID. Rodgers has gone from one of the most liked players in the league to a pariah in less than a year due to his off the field antics, and that will play a part when it comes to MVP voting. There isn’t a number where it feels good to back Rodgers.
