2023 DALLAS COWBOYS WIN PREDICTION

BY ADAM GREENE

For the Dallas Cowboys, the 2022-23 season looked a lot like every Mike McCarthy-coached season. He takes a loaded team, barely makes the playoffs with them, and then loses in the Divisional Round to a team they should have hammered.

This time, it was Dak Prescott wearing the coat on the sidelines watching the opposing team win. Not Aaron Rodgers as the Cowboys fell to his old employer, the San Francisco 49ers.

2023 NFC Championship Odds: +550

2023 NFC East Odds: +175

Team Wins: Over 10 (-130), Under 10 (+100)

Last preseason, we all thought the NFC East might be the worst division in the NFL. We were very wrong. Some real coaching hires and good luck put three NFC East teams in the playoffs and suddenly the easiest schedules in the NFL turned into the toughest. This is the world in which the 2023-24 Dallas Cowboys find themselves.

Dallas has the worst head coach in the division and it’s not even close, so Mike McCarthy will always be out-witted on any given Sunday. But McCarthy has Kramered his way into an elite job, on a team with some of the best talent in the NFL and, as such, expectations remain high and, even though he is (tied with Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles) the odds-on favorite to get fired, Dallas could probably still wrap with a solid record.

Dallas opens with two tough games, at the New York Giants then hosting the New York Jets. It gets easier over the next two weeks before they travel to NoCal to take on the San Francisco 49ers. While they’re in California, they match up with the Los Angeles Chargers before their bye, then face the Los Angeles Rams at home the week after. The Philadelphia Eagles show up after, then a rematch with the Giants.

I think this is the end for McCarthy in Dallas. And this team doesn’t make the playoffs.

2023-23 Win Prediction: 8-9
