CRAZY NFL PARLAY: NFL WEEK THREE

BY ADAM GREENE

Oh, my friends, this is the kind of week we dream of when picking our Crazy NFL Parlay. As you know, the point of the “crazy” parlay isn’t to toss money away, but instead take a calculated risk with a small amount of cash for a big payout. It’s like playing the lottery, but with some control of the stakes, as we actually watch and wager on these games every week. We know the strengths and weaknesses of these teams.

And damn it if this week we can’t make some real money.

I want you to look at the following moneylines I’ve picked out for this week’s Crazy Parlay and try to keep your eyes from bugging out. You will be unsuccessful. It’s that kind of week.

Rams +102

Texans +175

Washington +270

Bears +155

Panthers +230

Cowboys +190

Packers +140

Chiefs +150

Oh, that is a work of art right there. If you’ve already read my Friday Afternoon Quarterback and Sunday Night Football Preview, then you know that I feel like the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers are all due for straight up wins coming into this weekend. Sean McVay has a 10-2 record against the AFC as a head coach, the Texans, regardless of their coaching woes, are too good to start 0-3 (and the Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled against far lesser opponents in their 2-0 start). The New Orleans Saints are on the ropes, with Drew Brees looking every bit the 40 year old quarterback he actually is and they’re facing a Packers team led by Aaron Rodgers, who has already put himself squarely into the NFL MVP conversation (although he’s No. 2 behind Russell Wilson).

It’s the other games that we have to talk ourselves into and, frankly, it’s not that hard to see them all falling our way perfectly.

First off, is it a stretch at all to see the Washington Football Team roll into Cleveland and embarrass the Browns? It’s happened so many times it’s a trope at this point.

Julio Jones is banged up for the Falcons. The team has just melted completely down in an historic achievement as no team in the NFL history has ever scored 39 points and committed zero turnovers and lost. Facing a Bears defense and a Mitchell Trubisky who might have put an NFL career together, I can easily see this one happening.

The Panthers haven’t looked bad in their first two games and nearly upset the Raiders in Week One. The Los Angeles Chargers are starting a rookie quarterback and don’t have the best coaching staff with which to prepare him.

The Dallas Cowboys just saved their season with an historic comeback, as we’ve previously mentioned. They, as a team, routinely cause the Pete Carroll Seahawks problems and, when you take their entire roster into account, they’re the superior squad. If you switched head coaches, there’s no question that Dallas would win this game.

And not to spoil my Monday night preview, but no one picking the Chiefs to win any and every game this year is making a mistake.

So you plunk your money down on this one, what’s the payoff? I’ll tell you what it is. A $20 bet on all these moneylines pays $62,576.85. You could buy a brand new Corvette Grand Sport for that. And, yes, you had no idea you wanted one of those, but Google it. You totally want one. Trust me.
