Mahomes Favored to Win NFL MVP in 2025
Just days after the NFL season wrapped up with a thrilling overtime Super Bowl win for the
Chiefs the focus now shifts to next year and already bettors are looking at futures odds for
everything, including league MVP. While Patrick Mahomes was the favourite when last season
kicked off, it was another AFC quarterback, Lamar Jackson who took home his second league
award. And as expected, those two stars will once again be in contention for MVP.
Quarterbacks have won this award 11 straight times and 15 of the last 17 years. But there is
some value available, and for some, you may want to jump on it now, before things change in
the coming months.
The Favorites
Patrick Mahomes (+500)
You can never count out Patrick Mahomes even as an underdog. 3 playoff, road underdog wins
and another Super Bowl MVP. What Mahomes has shown is he rises to the occasion when it
matters the most. He threw fewer touchdowns and yards compared to the previous year, yet he
was still in the conversation for MVP. The Chiefs added Marquise Brown who adds a deep
threat to this offense, and Travis Kelce is returning, so expect Kansas City to go as far as the
future Hall of Famer takes him.
Josh Allen (+800)
Many picked Josh Allen to win this award last season and he was on course to do that, until
Allen had a case of the yips. Despite throwing for over 4,300 yards and 29 touchdowns, Allen
was picked off 18 times dropping him out of contention for this honour. You’d have to think Allen
will return with some vengeance after bowing out to Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Divisional
Round. Could next season be the year for Allen? Bettors may think so as he’s second on the
betting board.
Joe Burrow (+900)
After an appearance in the Super Bowl a couple years ago, things haven’t gone great for Joe
Burrow and the Bengals. After back-to-back appearances in the AFC title game, Cincinnati
missed the postseason and a big reason was the absence of Burrow Injuries forced him to miss
7 games but with a full offseason to get back to full strength, Burrow will not only be looking to
get back to the Super Bowl but stop Mahomes from a chance at a three-peat.
Value Plays
Jordan Love (+1800)
Jordan Love proved he can take over from Packers icon Aaron Rodgers, and become a
bonafide star in the NFL. The first-round pick will have high expectations next season and with
the youngest offensive group in the league, the hype is real. Last season, Love threw for 32
touchdowns and just 11 interceptions while completing almost 65% of his passes.
The most impressive part of Love’s season came late, including the playoffs, where he was
perhaps one throw away from a trip to the NFC Championship Game. Armed with a brand new
contract making him the highest paid player in the league, Love may have something to prove in
his second full season as the guy.
