Week 7 NFL Football ATS Power Rankings 17-32

32. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (1-5)
WEEK 6 RANK: 31

Washington failed to cover against the only team in the league that hadn’t covered this season. By law, they now own the bottom spot.

31. MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 31

Obviously not a big jump for the Dolphins considering their first ATS victory came at the expense of Washington. They’re arguably still the last team in the league you’d want to bet on.

30. ATLANTA FALCONS (1-6)
WEEK 6 RANK: 30

After losing to Arizona outright as three-point favorites, there’s a case to be made for Atlanta to be even lower than this. Though they’re bad, we can’t quite put them in the historic levels of bad Miami and Washington are flirting with. Seeing as the Falcons are only getting three points this week against a Rams team in must-win mode, it’s unlikely Atlanta gets higher than this for a while.

29. BALTIMORE RAVENS (1-5)
WEEK 6 RANK: 28

So far, real-life has imitated betting life, with the bottom of our rankings looking similar to standard power rankings. Then we have the Ravens, a 4-2 team that can’t cover a spread to save their lives. It’s possible the Ravens aren’t a good team since they’ve played one team with a winning record but can’t seem to put anyone away easily. We should have more answers this week when the Ravens face Seattle in the Earl Thomas Bowl.

28. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (1-4-1)
WEEK 6 RANK: 27

What the Chargers are doing right now is nothing short of embarrassing. That’s now two straight weeks where the Chargers got dominated as home favorites. We could see that happening every now and again. But two weeks in a row? Even as underdogs against Tennessee this week, a Chargers bet looks very brave.

27. CLEVELAND BROWNS (2-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 25

At least the Browns are on bye this week so no one has to convince themselves that this is the week the hype train gets rolling. The Browns ended up being favored by a point and were at least competitive, but the improvement did not lead to a cover. In fact, it could have been worse with Seattle opting to kneel down from the Cleveland 3-yard line as time expired. A date with New England awaits on the other side of the bye.

26. NEW YORK GIANTS (2-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 24

Maybe the Giants never really stood a chance to beat the Patriots on Thursday night, but a cover looked like a distinct possibility early on. That quickly came to an end with nothing but a small moral victory. The possible return of Saquon Barkley this week would do more to lead the Giants toward actual victory.

25. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (2-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 20

The Eagles’ two-cover streak comes to an emphatic end at the hands of “weak link” Kirk Cousins. The good news is they’ll get a chance to start another streak against the slumping Cowboys.

24. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEEERS (2-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 19

Apparently the Bucs can only be bothered to show up when they’re underdogs of six points or more. After beating the Rams by 15 as nine-point underdogs, the Bucs crashed back to Earth and continue burrowing to its core. Seven giveaways in London moved Tampa to third in the league.

23. TENNESSEE TITANS (2-4)
WEEK 6 RANK: 18

When you score seven total points in two games, you’re unlikely to cover very often. The Titans now boast the league’s fifth-lowest scoring offense and that’s inflated by their Week 1 destruction of Cleveland. In Tennessee’s defense, this was the first time they failed to cover as underdogs. Unfortunately, they’re favored against the Chargers this week.

22. NEW YORK JETS (2-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 29

What a difference a week makes. The Jets were a joke when we last posted these, but Sam Darnold returned and they looked like a competitive football team. The Cowboys are having problems of their own, so maybe we’ll look back on their win as seven-point underdogs as a flash in the pan. For now, they make a big leap in the rankings.

21. CHICAGO BEARS (2-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 21

The idle Bears maintain the same spot as last week. They draw a tough matchup with New Orleans, who are covering machines with Teddy Bridgewater at the helm.

20. CINCINNATI BENGALS (3-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 28

The Bengals may be winless, but they do at least keep things close from time to time. They became the latest team to cover against Baltimore on Sunday and face a beatable Jaguars team this week. The possible return of A.J. Green can’t hurt.

19. DALLAS COWBOYS (3-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 14

Just two weeks ago, the Cowboys were ranked fourth in the league. But this is what happens when you lose straight-up as favorites three weeks in a row. Wouldn’t you know it, they’re favored again this week in a home matchup with the Eagles.

18. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (3-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 11

It was always a little weird that Jacksonville was favored against New Orleans. It makes a bit more sense this week against the winless Bengals. Maybe they’ll handle their favored status a little better.

17. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (3-3)
WEEK 6 RANK: 10

Last week, Kansas City nearly fell out of the top 10. This week, they’re out of the top half of the rankings. As we said with the Cowboys, you can’t keep losing straight-up as favorites and expect to do well in these ranks. The Chiefs have done so two weeks in a row and failed to cover the week before that as well. They’ll face Denver on Thursday night.
