Rangers can make history as the first Scottish team to win the Europa League this Wednesday. Three teams from Scotland have previously made it this far only to come up short, but Rangers has a decent chance to end that skid against Eintracht Frankfurt. Although the German club is favored by the Europa League betting odds, they only finished in 11th place in the Bundesliga and posted a negative goal differential.
The 2022 Europa League Final will take place on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 3 p.m. ET from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville, Spain.

The run to the final for Rangers has been pretty special. They were fortunate to get out of the Group Stage with a 2-2-2 record to edge out a spot in the knockout rounds ahead of Sparta Prague. Rangers were moderate underdogs per the soccer betting odds against Borussia Dortmund and Red Star Belgrade, but they bested both those teams in the first two rounds. They proceeded to knock off Braga before pulling off another upset over Red Bull Leipzig in the semifinals.
Rangers has taken advantage of penalty opportunities, leading to right back James Tavernier being the top scorer in the Europa League with seven goals. Tavernier converted four of his goals from the spot during the knockout rounds, allowing him to be the improbable Golden Boot frontrunner. However, striker Alfredo Morelos will be unable to play due to injury, so the club will be dependent on Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent setting up their teammates up top.
Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t drop a single match in the Group Stage, posting a 3-3-0 record despite being drawn into a difficult group. They needed extra time to get past Real Betis in the Round of 16, and they were significant underdogs to Barcelona in the quarterfinals. Eintracht Frankfurt went on the road and beat the Blaugrana 3-2 in Camp Nou in the second leg to advance, setting up a showdown with West Ham. That tie became academic after an Aaron Cresswell red card in the 19th minute of the second leg, sending Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League Final for the first time in over four decades.
Filip Kostic has been fantastic for Eintracht Frankfurt throughout this competition. Kostic leads all players with five assists, and the wing is excellent at getting his teammates into good position. Daichi Kamada leads the club with five goals in this competition, and he could be one of the players to watch at the World Cup this winter.
While the story for Rangers is more compelling, there is more talent on Eintracht Frankfurt. The German club should be able to claim its second Europa League championship, and that would be a nice end to the season.
