Champions League Quarter-Finals; Manchester City Favored to Win It All

The greatest club football competition is down to the quarter-finals and features 8 of Europe’s
best squads. Manchester City won its first title last year and are listed as heavy favorites to go
repeat. But standing in the way, the 14-time champions, Real Madrid. And if City gets through,
it won’t get any easier as they’ll face either Arsenal or Bayern Munich in the semifinal.
Manchester City +180
Manchester City has cruised into the quarters after winning all 6 group stage games and then 2
more against Copenhagen in the Round of 16. City is currently on a 10-match winning streak
and haven’t lost at home in 30 consecutive matches. They also hammered Real Madrid 5-1 on
aggregate, in last year’s semifinals. They are talented and should have enough to dispose of
Madrid again, before having to face another European power.
Arsenal (+525)
England’s other entries in the Elite-8 are currently battling City for the Premiership title. But the
two sides could meet in the semi’s if they advance. Arsenal needed penalties to get by Porto
guaranteeing its first trip to the quarters since 2009-2010, and remember, they’ve never won the
Champions League trophy. The closest came in 2006 when they lost in the final to Barcelona.
Getting by Bayern would set up an epic English showdown, assuming City wins, in the
semifinals.
Bayern Munich (+750)
After a disappointing run in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich is looking for redemption in
Champions League play. After a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the Round of 16, Bayern stormed back with
a convincing 3-0 win at home powered by Harry Kane’s two goal performance. He did suffer a
recent ankle injury but will be fit for the April 9 trip to London against Arsenal.
Longshot Value
Paris Saint-Germain (+800)
In what will be Kylian Mbappe’s swan song, PSG faces Barcelona in the first leg in France.
PSG sits atop Ligue 1 and was fairly average in group play going 2-2-2 and only advancing on
goal differential. But they came alive in the Round of 16 with two wins against Real Sociedad,
advancing on 4-1 aggregate. If Mbappe wants to leave his mark in Paris, he could try to do it all
and bring Paris Saint-Germain its first ever Champions title.
