EURO 2020 Group C – Ukraine vs. Austria
We might see some gamesmanship on Monday when Ukraine and Austria meet in one of the last Group C matches. Both Ukraine and Austria are sitting on three points, and both sides are aware that a draw would likely send them both through to the knockout rounds. However, a win for either team would ensure they would make it to the Round of 16.
This EURO 2020 match will take place on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 12 p.m. ET. Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania will be the site of the match, and it will be broadcast on ESPN2 in the United States.

Austria was level with North Macedonia for most of their first match. The game seemed likely to end in a 1-1 draw before Michael Gregoritsch broke the tie in the 78th minute, and Marko Arnautovic sealed the win with an 89th minute goal.
They weren’t as fortunate against the Netherlands. The Dutch converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute to go up 1-0, and Denzel Dumfries added a second tally in the 67th minute. Austria failed to do much on offense in that match, so they lost 2-0.
Ukraine got its loss to the Netherlands out of the way early. They gave the Oranje a run for their money with late goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk in the span of five minutes though. Ukraine nearly ended up with what would have been a fortunate result, but Dumfries scored an 85th minute goal to give the Dutch a 3-2 win.
Andriy Shevchenko’s team looked much better in their win over North Macedonia. Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk scored in the span of five minutes once more, but they allowed a goal shortly halftime and needed to hold the line the rest of the way to earn a 2-1 victory.
This will be just the third meeting between these countries. Ukraine and Austria played a home-and-home set of friendlies in 2011 and 2012. Ukraine won the match it hosted 2-1 in November 2011, while the Austrians got a 3-2 victory at home in June 2012.
Both these teams only have a handful of offensive talents. Yarmolenko is easily the biggest threat on the attack for Ukraine. He has opened the scoring in each of their previous EURO 2020 games, and he has 42 goals in 96 appearances for his country. Yaremchuk has the second-most goals for Ukraine with 10 career goals, and there isn’t another talented attacking option on the roster.
As for Austria, they are largely dependent on Marko Arnautovic and David Alaba. Arnautovic is the most dangerous forward on the team with 27 goals, while Alaba is constantly running up the wing to challenge defenders with his speed.
This is a great spot to bet on Ukraine. They are a slight favorite on the three-way line against Austria, and they are more likely to bag a goal with Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk. Oleksandr Zinchenko is solid in the midfield and will check Austria when they try to move forward, so it’s worth a shot to take Ukraine on the three-way line or Asian Handicap.
