The Best Bets To Win The DP World Tour Championship

The European Tour is headed back to Dubai and the Jumeirah Golf Estates for the DP World Tour Championship this week. We took the time to break down the field in order to identify some of the best bets on the board including a look at the favorites, the golfers right behind them and a few sleeper picks. Here is a look at the best bets in regards to the DP World Tour Championship odds this week.

DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
CATEGORY: EUROPEAN TOUR
DATE: NOVEMBER 21ST-24TH, 2019
LOCATION: JUMEIRAH GOLF ESTATES, DUBAI, UAE

PAST FIVE WINNERS

2018: DANNY WILLETT -18
2017: JON RAHM -19
2016: MATTHEW FITZPATRICK -17
2015: RORY MCILROY -21
2014: HENRIK STENSON -16

THE FAVORITES

RORY MCILROY +400

The 2015 winner of the DP World Tour Championship has been excellent throughout 2019, indicating that he could be back at his best form. In two starts in the 2020 season, he placed third at the ZOZO Championship and then won the WGC-HSBC Champions. He won’t get another opportunity to win his first career major until April, but he could take steps towards that goal by performing well at tournaments that he is expected to win.

JON RAHM +650

Rahm hasn’t played since winning the Open de Espana. That should help him this week as he enters this event rested and with a clear mind. Rahm is undoubtedly among the most talented players in this week’s field and the most likely challenger to take McIlroy down. He won this event in 2017 and tied for fourth last year. He’s from Spain, so he’s used to the hot weather and typically likes it. That might bother other players but it won’t bother him here.

NEXT IN LINE

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN +2000

Oosthuizen is coming off a pair of impressive performances after finishing in the Top 6 in both the Nedbank Challenge and the WGC-HSBC Champions. Meanwhile, Oosthuizen also has two Top 6 finishes at this event in particular. A consistent talent that has performed at a high level of late, it’s worth taking a chance on Oosthuizen to win at +2000 odds this week.

MATTHEW FITZPATRICK +2000

Fitzpatrick is on our radar this week as a golfer that is available at a better value than he probably should be based on his immense potential. Fitzpatrick has flashed this year, even if he hasn’t been able to turn those strong performances in to first-place results. He ended the 2019 season with a 12th at the U.S. Open, 20th at The Open and then a fourth at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. The last time we saw him, he placed seventh at the WGC-HSBC Champions. He’s previously won this event too, so that is encouraging. I like him for a Top 10 more so than an outright win but he’s capable of pulling it off.

SLEEPER PICKS

MATTHIAS SCHWAB +3300

The 24-year-old Schwab has been on fire of late with three Top 5 finishes in his last four starts, including a runner-up in his last tournament when he lost in a playoff. After Ernie Else identified him as a young gun with an extremely bright future, there is no doubt that the Australian is on our radar heading into this tournament.

DANNY WILLETT +6600

If you are looking for a dart throw, Willett is an intriguing option on the board as the defending champion of this event. Willett hasn’t exactly lit it up of late (finished 73rd and 46th in his last two starts) but there is the potential for him to turn his season around in a hurry if he can rediscover the form that helped him clinch an outright victory here last year.
