Tiger Woods Favored To Win At Least One Tournament In 2020 But No Majors

Tiger Woods only won one PGA Tour tournament last season but it was a big one: the 2019 Masters. However, he played in only 12 events on the year and actually finished in the Top 10 four times. As the calendar flips to 2020, what’s in store for him in the coming year? A number of props have been released on whether he’ll win tournaments or majors, so let’s take a closer look:

TIGER WOODS TOURNAMENT WINS

1 OR MORE -195
NONE +175
2 OR MORE +210
3 OR MORE +750
4 OR MORE +2000

Tiger’s lone win in 2019 came on one of the biggest stages of them all as he added another major victory to his resume when he took The Masters. While he didn’t dominate throughout the course of the entire year, he did perform better than some expected with four Top 10 finishes in his 12 starts at PGA Tour events. Can Tiger add to his single-season win total this coming year? All things considered, it seems unlikely. Tiger will be 44 when the 2020 PGA Tour season resumes. The older he gets, the more difficult it will become to stay healthy. If he can match the 12 appearances he made a year ago then that will give him only 12 opportunities to capture two wins, which represents a 1-in-6 ratio. In this situation, regression seems more likely than improvement.

TIGER WOODS MAJOR WINS

NO MAJOR WINS -800
1 OR MORE MAJOR WINS +400
3 OR MORE MAJOR WINS +10000
WINS ALL 4 MAJORS +25000

Based on what we established in the previous prop bet, it only makes sense that we would follow it with the prediction that Tiger will not win a major in 2020. The fact that Woods’ lone victory in 2019 happened to come at The Masters is that much more impressive than the fact that he won any tournament at all. Assuming that he stays healthy from start to finish in 2020, he will only have four chances to win a major. If he struggles to stay healthy, he will have fewer than four chances to win a major.

Woods was shaky in the other three majors of 2019 as he missed the cut at the PGA Championship and The Open, and placed 21st at the U.S. Open. The Masters win was the outlier.

WILL TIGER WIN GOLD AT 2020 OLYMPICS?

NO -2000
YES +900

We still don’t even know that Tiger will be healthy and compete in the 2020 Olympics, so it makes sense that the “No” option is the tremendous favorite in this spot. Tiger will always have an outside shot at contending for the outright victory at every tournament that he takes part in. However, the fact that he will be an underdog in the Olympics if he makes it that far in the first place makes it obvious that “No” is the answer for this prop. At -2000 odds, this is another prop bet that isn’t even worth betting on for Tiger Woods in 2020.
