This week’s Top Horse Pick comes to us from Keeneland in the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes for three-year-old fillies.

The best trainer in the country, Chad Brown, has the two favorites – #1 Royal Charlotte (3/1) and #3 Indian Pride (7/2).

Of these two, Indian Pride looks to have the most room for improvement in just her second start lifetime. But neither are our top pick as we dig deeper in this field of eleven young ladies to find value.

TOP HORSE PICK OF THE WEEK: #7 ISTAN COUNCIL (10/1)

#7 Istan Council looks to continue her four race positive Form Cycle Pattern as she’s second off a layoff in here. While her past performances have the look of an off-the-pace runner, we see her last race as an indication she’ll go for the lead and sit a stalking position. She pairs back up with jockey Chantel Sutherland whose struggled this year winning just 23 races from 282 starts (8%), but the upside is she won’t get over bet like Chad’s pair plus the class of the race – #6 Restless Rider (4/1).

We look for an improving, forward moving effort from #7 Istan Council and to try to land (notice the pun as Istan means land in Persian) the money with a win/place bet.
