2021 LCS Lock In Betting Preview

The oddsmakers are viewing the 2021 LCS Lock In like it’s a two-horse race. Cloud9 and Team Liquid are seen as the two favorites entering this two-week event. Liquid would have likely been the overall favorite, but Santorin’s visa issues have led to a knock on this team. They aren’t the only team dealing with visa issues though, and that will play a pretty big impact in this competition.

Cloud9 are arguably the most intriguing team entering the 2021 season in North American League of Legends. They bring back three starters from last year, but they made big moves in the mid lane and top lane. Perkz will be replacing Nisqy, and Fudge will be replacing Licorice.

Perkz is one of the most talented players to come to the LCS in a long time. He was G2’s lynchpin as they established themselves as Europe’s premier team, and he showed he can play bottom lane at an elite level too. Meanwhile, Fudge has been heralded the next great top laner for over a year, so it was only a matter of time before he made his debut.

Liquid will likely be the favorites to win the LCS Spring Split in February. They have the best bottom lane in the region with Tactical and CoreJJ establishing themselves as the premier duo in 2020, and mid laner Jensen is still playing at a high level. Alphari is a reliable top laner much like former top laner Impact, and Santorin might be the region’s best jungler.

The absence of Santorin will lead to Liquid starting Armao for at least the Group Stage of this tournament. If Santorin’s visa issues are cleared up before the knockout stages get underway, that will give Liquid a significant boost.

This is a completely revamped Team SoloMid. TSM have some real potential with this starting lineup, but there is a lot of potential variance as this squad has a low floor and a high ceiling. PowerOfEvil might be the most talented mid laner in North America and is a solid replacement for the legendary Bjergsen, but the bottom lane is a huge concern.

The decision to sign Huni was curious considering his woeful performance throughout the 2020 season, and he might be even more of a coin flip player than previous top laner Broken Blade. There are going to be some great opportunities to bet against this team considering their massive fanbase.

Oddsmakers nailed their valuation of 100 Thieves, as this team should perform well early in the season given the synergy they have after signing four starters from Golden Guardians. There isn’t a high ceiling for this team once the season kicks into gear, but they have the potential to take down a tournament like this with Ssumday making a big difference in the top lane.

Two teams to really keep an eye on at this event are Counter Logic Gaming and Dignitas. Both teams are dealing with COVID issues, and CLG will also be without their starting top laner and jungler for the first week. Finn and Broxah have been unable to secure their visas yet, leading to CLG having to scramble for replacements just a few days ago.
