2021 LEC Spring Split Betting Preview

G2 Esports are massive favorites to win the 2021 LEC Spring Split. The Kings of Europe have won four straight league titles and eight of the last ten to surpass Fnatic as the most decorated League of Legends team in European history. G2 struck at the heart of Fnatic fans in the offseason too with the acquisition of legendary Fnatic bottom laner Rekkles. That signing has left G2 as the clear favorite, relegating Fnatic to the list of secondary contenders.

2021 LEC Spring Split Betting Odds

G2 Esports -250
Fnatic +500
Rogue +700
MAD Lions +900
Schalke 04 +2600
Excel Esports +5000
SK Gaming +6600
Team Vitality +6600
Misfits Gaming +8000
Astralis +10000

After being a part of all eight of G2’s LEC titles, the organization parted ways with Perkz this offseason. Perkz was synonymous with G2 for five years. He led the team to its first four split titles in the mid lane, and then he moved over to the bottom lane to make room for Caps in order to take this team to another level. However, he was never a fully comfortable fit in the bottom lane, as we saw at times in international tournaments.

The addition of Rekkles was meant to make G2 a world champion. Rekkles is the best bottom laner in European history by a significant margin. He was a part of four of Fnatic’s championship teams in Europe, and G2 is hoping he is the missing link.

Everyone else from last year’s team is back for G2. Wunder, Jankos, Caps, and Mikyx are still playing at an elite level, so any team will be hard-pressed to knock off G2 when the chips are in the middle of the table. However, this team doesn’t always take the regular season seriously.

Fnatic are clearly the second-best team in Europe. Although they lost Rekkles, they still have a quality top laner in Bwipo, arguably the best jungler in the region in Selfmade, and a support that can make some excellent plays in Hylissang. Upset is a strong bottom laner in his own right, but Nisqy is something of a question mark in the mid lane after we saw him struggle at the end of the season with Cloud9 in the LCS.

This team does have a very sharp coach in YamatoCannon though. YamatoCannon gets the best out of his teams, and that should make Fnatic very competitive throughout the Spring Split.

Although the oddsmakers only have Rogue a short distance behind Fnatic in terms of the League of Legends futures odds, this team has much less of a chance than you might think given the price. Larssen is an elite mid laner and Inspired is a top tier jungler, but there isn’t a great option at the other three positions. Hans Sama is only an above average bottom laner, and Odoamne’s best days are behind him in the top lane.

It will be interesting to see what happens with MAD Lions this year. The Lions roared at times last year, as Humanoid had some great performances and Carzzy looked sharp in the bottom lane. They have rolled the dice with former Movistar Riders’ jungler Elyoya though, and they brought in Armut from TCL side BAU SuperMassive to be their top laner. At this price, it’s probably best to avoid any futures with MAD Lions.

Misfits and Astralis are seen as the two worst teams by the oddsmakers, but they both have a higher ceiling than SK Gaming and Team Vitality. Misfits have a bottom lane that can win early in Kobbe and Vander, and Razork can make plays in the jungle. As for Astralis, WhiteKnight can still outperform some of the other top laners in this league, while Nukeduck is still more talented than four or five mid laners in the region.
