2022 League of Legends LEC Spring Split Week 1 Betting Preview

The LEC is back in our lives. Every major region started its Spring Split this weekend, as the long offseason is finally over for the most popular Esport in the world…League of Legends. There was only one real upset on Friday with MAD Lions taking down superteam Team Vitality in the opening match of the 2022 LEC Spring Split, but we are sure to see more over the course of this week. The LEC has more parity than the LCS, LPL, and LCK, making this arguably the most entertaining league in the world.

2022 League of Legends LEC Spring Split Week 1 Betting Odds

Misfits Gaming -156
Team BDS +116

It wasn’t pretty, but Misfits Gaming was able to take down Astralis in their first game of 2022. Vetheo had a nice performance on Yasuo, posting a 10.0 KDA, and HiRit did almost 32% of his team’s damage on Irelia. However, they had some missteps in the mid game that could cost them against newcomers Team BDS.

Team BDS was competitive with league favorites Fnatic in their first match. Nuclearint showed a lot of promise against Humanoid, but Xmatty really struggled in the bottom lane with an 0/5/3 stat line on Lucian. If he can play better this time, BDS stands a decent chance of pulling off the upset.

Team Vitality -294
Excel Esports +206

We didn’t see Team Vitality play well in their first match of 2022. They were outdrafted by MAD Lions, and Perkz did not play well in the mid lane on Akshan. The only player that performed up to standard was Carzzy who looked strong on Jhin.

Excel showed some creativity in its first match. Nukeduck took Malzahar into the mid lane, and Advienne showed that he could play Nami. Finn played very well in the top lane too, so you can’t count out Excel in their final game of Week 1.

Rogue -417
Astralis +272

Larssen was exceptional on LeBlanc in Rogue’s win over SK Gaming on Friday. He showed that he is still one of the best mid laners in the region with a 12.0 KDA, and Rogue has traditionally performed very well early in the season. Comp and Trymbi are still a question mark in the bottom lane though.

Astralis is consistently pegged to be the worst team in the LEC, but they have never finished at the bottom of the standings. They have continually been better than expected, and new mid laner Dajor looks like he might have what it takes to make Astralis a playoff team. This team shouldn’t be this much of an underdog in Week 1.

SK Gaming +330
Fnatic -526

The worst performing team of the first day was SK Gaming. Sertuss’ decision to take Vex didn’t work out, and the bottom lane did not acquit itself well with low damage totals. That doesn’t bode well against Fnatic who boasts the best bottom lane in the LEC.

Hylissang was brilliant in Fnatic’s win over Team BDS on Friday. He set up his team for two big teamfight wins with precision movement on Rakan, and he didn’t die in the match. Upset was sharp with a 10.0 KDA on Jhin, so this is the rare case of a favorite to back despite the big chalk.

MAD Lions -137
G2 Esports +101

The final match of Week 1 pits reigning champions MAD Lions against the most successful team in LEC history in G2 Esports. MAD Lions proved that they shouldn’t be left for dead with their dominant win over Team Vitality, as new mid laner Reeker showed he has what it takes to play at a high level. The star of the game was Elyoya though who posted an 18 KDA and was responsible for over 30% of his team’s damage.

G2 Esports had a nice performance from its new bottom lane, and veterans Caps and Jankos played well too. However, Brokenblade was not great on Corki despite big damage numbers and needs to play better if they are to win here.
