A ‘Superweek’ Will Determine the Playoff Race for the LEC Summer Split Playoffs

Every team has the potential to make the postseason entering the final week of the LEC Summer Split Playoffs. There has been far more parity than expected as only three games separate the current No. 3 seed from last place FC Schalke 04. Either MAD Lions or Rogue will grab the No. 1 seed and move closer to grabbing one of Europe’s four berths into the League of Legends World Championship in Shanghai next month, but every team that will take part in Worlds has to first qualify for the playoffs as Europe no longer has regional qualifying. That will put a lot of pressure on current bubble teams like Origen and Fnatic that were considered favorites to make Worlds per the League of Legends betting odds at the start of the Summer Split.
2020 LEAGUE OF LEGENDS LEC SUMMER SPLIT WEEK 8 BETTING ODDS
MISFITS GAMING -150
TEAM VITALITY +110
The worst team in the LEC right now is Misfits Gaming, so this is a great price on Team Vitality. Misfits ended their long losing streak with a victory over SK Gaming last week, but they have still lost five of their last six matches. This team doesn’t seem to understand the current meta, and they have had massive issues in support. Denyk was brought in to replace Doss last week, and he somehow faired even worse despite being paired with a solid veteran bottom laner in Kobbe.
Vitality have upset MAD Lions and Rogue in consecutive games. Skeanz has been superb of late, proving to be a solid replacement for Nji, and Cabochard continues to be solid in the top lane. Milica has been good on late game scaling champions, while Comp has really come along over the last month. This is a superb bet, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Vitality were the favorite by the time this match got underway on Sunday.
MAD LIONS -245
FC SCHALKE 04 +175
The League of Legends betting odds for this match have the potential to change wildly between now and Sunday. MAD Lions may have locked up the No. 1 overall seed by that point, but there’s an even better chance that Schalke are eliminated from the postseason. If one side has something to play for while the other one doesn’t, you can be sure the odds will be affected. If not, we could see an absolute fiesta as both teams just look to blow it out at the end.
ROGUE -220
ORIGEN +185
This is a great price for Rogue. Many observers are down on this team after disappointing losses to SK Gaming and Vitality in their last two games, but they are far more talented than their counterparts on Origen. Larssen is probably the best mid laner in Europe at this point, while Nukeduck has had a really difficult year.
Origen’s main chance to win is in the top lane through Alphari, but he appears to be despondent after this team’s late season collapse. He expressed his frustrations on social media recently, and his head might not be where it needs to be given the stakes.
G2 ESPORTS -345
EXCEL ESPORTS +245
You can’t blame anyone for shying away from G2 after how often they have burned bettors in the Summer Split. However, they have finally started to turn the corner with three straight victories, including wins over Rogue and Fnatic. Caps is the most talented player in Europe, and he continues to show it with some of his performances in the mid lane, while Special has really fallen off after a strong start to the summer.
Excel are looking to lock up a playoff spot for the first time in their history. They have a great chance to make the postseason after knocking off Origen on Friday, but they just don’t have the same talent on the roster as G2. There is no place where they have a legitimate edge, so you can’t take them with G2 drafting better.
FNATIC -190
SK GAMING +135
The most popular team in Europe could miss out on the playoffs. Fnatic have won seven LEC titles, and it would be devastating for this organization to miss Worlds, but that is a real possibility entering the last week. Rekkles has looked great even if he is playing preferred champions rather than meta ones, yet the rest of his teammates have really underwhelmed. Since this is the last match of the regular season, both teams will know exactly what they need to do in order to make it to the postseason.
