This will be the most talented field we have ever seen at the Scottish Open. The event has been a mainstay on the European Tour since the 1980s, but it was just added to the PGA Tour this year. Nearly all of the top names on the PGA Tour will be taking part in this tournament this year as it is the perfect tune-up for The Open Championship next week. Renaissance Club is the home of the Scottish Open, and it is just 20 miles away from the site of the last major of the season. The three favorites to win this event by the golf betting odds are Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Justin Thomas.
The 2022 Scottish Open will be held at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland for the fourth straight year. Some golfers won’t be too familiar with the course since it just became a PGA Tour stop, but others have used this event as a way to get ready for The Open Championship for the last few years. This tournament will run from July 7-10, 2022.

The Course
Renaissance Club is 20 miles east of Edinburgh on the southern coast of the Firth of Forth. This is a par 70 course that checks in at 7,237 yards, and Renaissance Club’s main defense are the coastal winds that can wreak havoc on shots. Fortunately, wind isn’t expected to play much of a factor, and the weather is projected to be pretty nice throughout the week. Neither the rough nor the greens are very challenging, so low scores should be in order as long as the wind complies.
Best Bet to Win the Scottish Open: Xander Schauffele +1900
We have seen Xander Schauffele win two events in the last two months, and he is in great form ahead of the Scottish Open. Schauffele has finished T18 or better in six consecutive tournaments, and he has already proven his mettle on this course. In his first trip to North Berwick last year, Schauffele earned a T10 finish and shot 67 or better in three of four rounds so he is a solid bet at almost 20-1.
Value Play to Win the Scottish Open: Jordan Spieth +2700
Jordan Spieth has had a lot of success at links courses over the years. That led to an Open Championship win in 2017, and he finished runner-up at The Open Championship last year. Although Spieth wasn’t very successful in June, he won the RBC Heritage in April and finished runner-up at the Byron Nelson in May. Spieth has never made an appearance at this event, but he has to be considered one of the favorites.
