Scheffler’s (+500) Biggest Favorite at Master since Tiger’s Run

It is golf’s most prestigious major and the Masters is also one of the most heavily wagered

sporting events of the year. The 2024 edition will be held Thursday, April 11, to Sunday, April

14, with a total purse of $18 million with the winner taking home $3.24 million along with the

coveted Masters Green Jacket. Not since Tiger Woods (+350) in 2013 has there been a bigger

favorite at Augusta. In fact, Woods was +450 or better at every Masters from 2000 to 2013.

Scottie Scheffler has been the best golfer on the planet in the last year and is the overwhelming

favorite to continue his hot streak.

Scottie Scheffler (+500)

In his last three events, Scottie Scheffler has won twice, and finished second in the other. He’s

finished in the top 20 in all of his eight starts this season, and has seven top ten finishes to boot.

Many sportsbooks have him as the most wager for the Masters. After winning in 2022, Scheffler

finished tied for tenth last season in his bid to go back-to-back at The Masters. The way he’s

been playing, he’ll likely be in contention, but at these short odds, you may want to swing your

attention elsewhere.

Jon Rahm (+1200)

In recent years, many believe Jon Rahm’s game was perfect for Augusta National and it

wouldn’t be long before we saw him dawn the Green Jacket. And that’s what he did last year

with a final-round comeback. But he moved to LIV Golf this season, where he hasn’t won an

event yet, but has had 4 top-10 finishes in four starts. He is the defending champion, and

should be eager to defend his title against the world’s best.

Rory McIlroy (+1200)

It’s the one major that has eluded Rory McIlroy. A second place finish in 2022 followed by a

horrible 2023 tournament where he missed the cut by several shots. He hasn’t lit 2024 on fire

but surely he’s targeted this tournament on the calendar and can he finally slay the dragon.

He’s always been a very popular bet with the public and this year shouldn’t be any different.

Tiger Woods (+125000)

Tiger Woods will likely play but finishing the tournament or winning, well, that’s a tall order for

the 5-time champion. His odds are long but for some bettors they may want to drop some cash

on him for nostalgic reasons. He withdrew last year, and finished 47th in 2022. The better

wager may be if he makes the cut in 2024.
