Grant Denies He Was Source Of Leaks, Says ‘Last Dance’ Inaccurate
The final episode of the Michael Jordan documentary ‘Last Dance’ aired this past Sunday and while the reviews were generally good, not everyone was upbeat and positive. BetOnline conducted an interview on Monday with Jordan’s former teammates Horace Grant, Ron Harper, Bill Cartwright and Craig Hodges, and they didn’t hold back. Specifically, Grant had some choice words about Jordan, who has been portrayed as an immaculate superstar in the series.
Grant Refutes Being The “Jordan Rules” Snitch
In an interview with BetOnline, Grant refuted that he was the locker room snitch. In the “Last Dance”, it was suggested that he was the person who leaked much of the information from Sam Smith’s famous “The Jordan Rules” book and Jordan alleged as much as well.
In Monday’s interview, Grant said it “is a downright, outright, completely lie” that he leaked any of the information. Grant, who won three consecutive titles with Jordan from 1991-93, resented the notion altogether.
Grant Suggests ‘Last Dance’ Portrayals Inaccurate
One of the most entertaining aspects of ‘The Last Dance’ was just how in-depth they went in their examination of both the Chicago Bulls teams and the players on them. We really got a look inside to see what guys like Dennis Rodman were truly like. However, Grant says that a lot of the documentary was embellishment as it wasn’t particularly accurate.
“I would say it was entertaining, but we know, who was there as teammates, that about 90% of it — I don’t know if I can say it on air, but B.S. in terms of the realness of it,” Grant said during his Monday interview. “But all of that was kind of edited out of the documentary, if you want to call it a documentary.”
Grant referred to ‘The Last Dance’ as a “so-called documentary” multiple times in his interviews and he simply stated that the documentary was about one person and he had the last word on what was put in it. It was also pointed out that the executive producers – Estee Portnoy and Curtis Polk – are two of Jordan’s closest confidants.
“When that so-called documentary is about one person, basically, and he has the last word on what’s going to be put out there … it’s not a documentary,” Grant said. “It’s his narrative of what happens in the last, quote-unquote, dance. That’s not a documentary, because a whole bunch of things was cut out, edited out. So that’s why I call it a so-called documentary.”
Grant Follows Up On Flight Attendant Food Story
In our interview with Grant, he responded to another story that’s been circling around that Jordan told flight attendants not to serve Grant on a plane after he had a bad game. While Grant says that the story is true, what has been missing from it has been how he went right back at Jordan.
“Let me clear something up about this food thing, that he tried to take my food,” Grant said. “I would have beat his ass, guys. … You come back and try to take my food? I would have whipped his ass. [There] wouldn’t be no Air Jordans right now. It wouldn’t be no six championships, I guarantee you that.”
