Toy Story 5 Death Markets: Yes, You Can Bet on Pixar’s Body Count
Summary
“Toy Story 5” is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026. Speculation suggests a major character death is likely to shake up the long-running series, similar to other film franchises.
The character Sarge is considered the most probable casualty, with very short betting odds. Other potential candidates include Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head, Woody, and Buzz Lightyear, each with their own odds. Additional prop bets humorously speculate on elements like how many times the word “infinity” will be said or how often Woody’s name is mentioned.
Unlike James Bond 26, whose title may as well be Never Ever Again, Toy Story 5 now has a release date of June 19th, 2026. You want to bet on a kids’ movie? You, er, bet I do.
So it seems inevitable to us that one of the bigger characters will die — it’s just what happens when you get deep into a series of movies (see Harry Potter). You have to shake shit up a bit.
Who’s Most Likely to Die?
So this is interesting: Sarge started life at 400 (4/1) and is now as short as -500, the assumption being that he will delight in being “KIA” (Killed In Action). You can almost see that playing out, can’t you?
Of the others we have:
- Mr. Potato Head is the second favorite at 400. This I can see — but I actually prefer a grieving Mr. Potato Head over Mrs. Potato Head, who is better value at 600.
- Both Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head at 800 Worth thinking about IMO… Sarge tries to save them, and they all die? Possible. Ruined the film for you yet? Eeeeexcellent, Smithers (FYI, The Simpsons just announced they will stop before June 1st).
- Woody at 800. Tricky one. It could be that at the end he’s in Buzz Lightyear’s arms dying, but equally it would surely mean the end of a very lucrative franchise (oh fuck off, it’s just business at the end of the day).
- Slinky Dog at 1000. At this point, you start to wonder…
- Buzz Lightyear (“The Buzzer”) at 1200. This actually smacks of a reasonable price. He literally goes from infinity to beyond? That’s possible. Very possible IMO. It might just pay for that summer break.
- Rex and Hamm at 1200. With Hamm, I can see some sort of butcher-style slaying, but who knows.
- Stinky Pete at 1400. The real question here is whether he’ll even make a comeback at all, so I’d leave that one alone.
Fun (and Slightly Unhinged) Prop Bets
Other markets include:
How many times will they say “infinity”?
Two schools of thought here:
- They don’t want to flog a dead horse and go overboard with it
- Buzz dies, and they all say it — mournfully — a lot
So we’ve taken a huge risk here putting the Over/Under at 2.5 (-120 each of two).
Which way are you going? I just have NO IDEA.
How many mentions of “Woody”?
Now, barring him from changing his name, this will be high. So we’ve gone:
- Over/Under 40.5 (-120 each of two)
