NBA Daily Best Bets for Tuesday Jan. 13
Summary
The Minnesota Timberwolves face the Milwaukee Bucks. The Timberwolves are strong offensively but will be without leading scorer Anthony Edwards. The Bucks, struggling at home, have offensive difficulties. The prediction favors a high-scoring game, selecting the Over 226.5.
In other matchups, the Oklahoma City Thunder, despite their league-leading record, have lost three times this season to the San Antonio Spurs and are predicted to finally win and cover the -8 spread. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors, with their potent three-point shooting, are favored to cover -9.5 against an injured Portland Trail Blazers team, with the Over 228.5 also selected.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Milwaukee Bucks 8:00 p.m. EST
| Spread | ML | Total | |
| T-wolves | +3.5 (-110) | +125 | O226.5 (-110) |
| Bucks | -3.5 (-110) | -145 | U226.5 (-110) |
Minnesota Timberwolves (26-14)
The Timberwolves came back from a 19-point deficit to beat the Spurs on Sunday as Anthony Edwards hit the winner with 17 seconds left in the game. Edwards leads Minnesota as he averages 28.9 points and 3.8 assists, but will sit this one out. The T-wolves are No. 4 in the NBA in scoring (119.9) and are eleventh in scoring defense (114.8).
Milwaukee Bucks (17-22)
The Bucks have lost 2 of three and sit just below the playoff line. Milwaukee lost to the Nuggets, who were without five of their top scorers, 108-104. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored 31 points, continues to lead the Bucks, averaging 29.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists this season. The Bucks struggled scoring, No. 25 averaging 112.9 PPG.
Recent Betting Trends
The Bucks are 5-5 record ATS in the last ten and 18-21 overall.
Minnesota is 17-23 ATS this season, 5-5 ATS in the last ten games.
Milwaukee is 23-16 on the UNDER (59%).
Minnesota is 21-19 on the UNDER (52.5%)
Prediction
With the Bucks struggling at home (9-9) and overall, you’d have to like the Wolves’ chances on the road, where they’re 11-8. But Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been ruled out due to right foot injury maintenance.  And this should see some points. BEST BET: OVER 226.5
San Antonio Spurs vs Oklahoma City Thunder 8:00 p.m. EST
| Spread | ML | Total | |
| Spurs | +8 (-110) | +226 | O230 (-110) |
| Thunder | -8 (-110) | -275 | U230 (-110) |
San Antonio Spurs (27-12)
The Spurs blew a 19-point lead to the Timberwolves and lost 104-103 Sunday. San Antonio is 4-3 in the last 7 seven games. Victor Wembanyama had 29 points vs Minnesota and leads the way for the Spurs this season (24.3 PPG, 11.1 REB). The Spurs have eight players averaging double-digits in scoring this season and are No. 7, allowing 112.6 PPG.
Oklahoma City Thunder (33-7)
OKC has lost just seven times through 40 games this season, but three of those losses have been to San Antonio. The Thunder have won three games in a row, including a 124-112 victory over the Heat on Sunday. SGA led the Thunder with 29 points and averages 31.9 PPG this season, 2nd overall. OKC is No.1 overall, allowing 108.4 PPG and No. 2 in scoring, 122.7 PPG, and has a league-best 26-6 in conference play.
Recent Betting Trends
The Thunder are 3-7 ATS in the last ten games, and 19-21 ATS this season.
San Antonio is 21-17-2 ATS this season, 5-5 in the last ten games.
Prediction
Can the fourth time be the charm? The Thunder have lost three in a row to the Spurs, and logic says they will get over the hump. But for whatever reason, OKC has struggled against San Antonio, losing by 15, 20, and two points in those losses. OKC finally gets its’ revenge. BEST BET: Thunder -8
Portland Trail Blazers vs Golden State Warriors 11:10 p.m. EST
| Spread | ML | Total | |
| Trail Blazers | +10.5 (-110) | +337 | O228.5 (-110) |
| Warriors | -10.5 (-110) | -430 | U228.5 (-110) |
Preview and Prediction
The Portland Trail Blazers have been playing well recently. Despite a loss to the Knicks in their last game, Portland is 8-2 in the last ten, including a five game winning streak. But injuries are hampering this squad as guard Deni Avdija will miss Tuesday’s game with a back issue.
The Trail Blazers average 116.3 PPG, 16th overall.
As for the Warriors, they’re coming off a home loss to the Hawks, where Stephen Curry scored 31, and Jimmy Butler added 30 in a losing cause. Golden State remains the No. 1 shooting three-point team in the league in both shots (15.8) made and attempted (43.9).
With the Warriors ranking ninth in points allowed (115.4) they have the edge here considering their three-game streak. With Portland missing some key players, the Warriors should be able to win and cover in this game, a game that could see a lot of points. BEST BETS: Warriors -9.5 / OVER 228.5
