Beckhams, Harry, Elton & betting: The British celebrities taking over the US news agenda

Summary

British celebrities are currently dominating American headlines, with Prince Harry’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers and the Beckham family’s antics generating particular buzz. Betting markets have emerged around these events, offering odds on Harry winning his case and on potential payouts for him and other involved celebrities like Elton John.

Further bets focus on the Beckhams, including Victoria releasing new music, Brooklyn pursuing a culinary or racing career, and various personal milestones for the newlywed couple Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz. These novelty wagers, while lighthearted, highlight the intense public fascination with these British figures’ lives.

Whether it’s the Beckhams playing Happy Families or Harry suing newspapers flanked by Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, there’s no doubt that the Brits are making the headlines in the USA right now.

But let’s get to the betting that offers up. Obviously, we have a bet whether Harry wins his case at 5/2 (250) against Associated Newspapers (owners of the Daily Mail). And if the various celebrities do win how much will they pay out: Over/Under $150,000…hey, this is ‘take your pick’ stuff, we have NO idea but if you’re looking at the form book over the years we’ve seen the following: Sienna Miller took home $120,000, Jude Law trousered $150,000, ‘Voice Of Angel’ Charlotte Church added a further $620,000 to her already considerable pile of cash. Tricky stuff, but I think this lot really are just after the win, so that’s where we’ve set the bar…in the words of Big Brother, ‘you decide,’ but that’s not till the Summer!

OK, what about that family more defunct than The Simpsons themselves (2/1 to announce they are going to stop doing new episodes by June 1st), Les Beckhams. I can’t remember more memes than Victoria’s audience hogging dance at her son’s wedding. So we have Victoria’s “Posh Spice Beckham at 3/1 to release a new song this year (can’t see it, her solo career even at the height of her fame was AWFUL). Brooklyn to work in a Michelin-starred restaurant is a 5/1 (500) shot…to test drive for the McLaren F1 team, only 3/1, hold up, I know that sounds short, BUT I can see them doing this as a one PR stunt, it would gain global attention to McLaren for sure.

Other Beckham stuff for the newlyweds (Brooklyn & Nicola Peltz):

To announce pregnancy in 2026: -300

To split up: 400

To have another wedding: -200

Victoria & David to split up: 1200

Victoria to announce a pregnancy 2500

If, like me, you bet this stuff, you are a proper de-gen, and we salute you for it, you truly filthy animal!
