NBA Daily Best Bets for Tuesday, Jan. 27

Summary

The Milwaukee Bucks face the Philadelphia 76ers amidst turmoil, with Giannis Antetokounmpo out indefinitely and the team losing four of their last six. Philadelphia, led by Tyrese Maxey, is strongly favored and has an excellent record covering the spread after a loss, making the 76ers -10 the recommended pick.

In other games, the struggling Brooklyn Nets, last in team scoring, visit the defensively strong Phoenix Suns, with Phoenix -8.5 as the best bet. Finally, the Los Angeles Clippers meet the Utah Jazz in a matchup favoring a high score, as Utah ranks high in scoring but last in defense, making the Over 231.5 points the selected prediction.

Milwaukee Bucks (16-26)

Things continue to go downhill for the Bucks as  Giannis Antetokounmpo is out indefinitely, and with rumors swirling about him moving on from Milwaukee, we could have seen him in the Bucks uniform for the last time. And that speculation has hurt the team on the court as they’ve lost 2 straight and 4-6 in the last ten games.

Philadelphia 76ers (24-21)

The 76ers have lost two straight, including getting blown out by the Hornets on Monday, and have lost 5 of the last seven games. Tyrese Maxey heads the team in scoring, averaging nearly 30 PPG, but scored just 6 vs Charlotte. Expect a big bounce-back game on Tuesday.

Prediction

With all the turmoil in Milwaukee, the 76ers are in a great spot as they are 14-5 ATS following a loss, the best in the NBA, and 7-1 ATS in back-to-back games, second best in the league. Take the Sixers.  BEST BET for this NBA game:  76ers -10

Brooklyn Nets vs Phoenix Suns 9:00 p.m. EST

SpreadMLTotal
Nets+8.5  (-110)+280O212(-110)
Suns-8.5  (-110)-350U212 (-110)

Brooklyn Nets(12-32)

The Nets have lost 5 in a row and 9 of the last ten games.   Michael Porter Jr. leads the team in scoring 24.9 PPG, but the Nets are dead last in team scoring (107.9). Brooklyn is 6–15 on the road this season and was blown out by 37 by the Clippers in Los Angeles.

Phoenix Suns (27-19)

The Suns have dropped two in a row but are 6-4 in the last ten. The Suns actually are No. 5 in scoring defense, allowing 111.8 PPG.   Devin Booker is the leader of this squad, averaging nearly 26 points and 6 assists per game.

Prediction

With the inability of the Nets to score and the Suns having a pretty rock-solid defense, expect a lower-scoring game here, and the Suns covering this spread despite being nearly 10 points.  The Suns playing back at home against a team going the wrong way is a recipe for success.  BEST BET:  Suns 8.5

Los Angeles Clippers vs Utah Jazz 10:00 p.m. EST

Clippers-8.5 (-110)-340O231.5 (-110)
Jazz+8.5 (-110)+275U231.5 (-110)

Prediction

Los Angeles Clippers (21-24)

The Clippers have been one of the best teams in the NBA in the last month despite being under .500.  They’ve won two straight, and Kawhi Leonard has scored at least 24 points in 8 straight games.  LA is 8-2 in the last ten and moving up the playoff line.

Utah Jazz (15-31)

The Jazz have gone 3-7 in their past 10 games, with a 5-5 record against the spread in that span.  Utah is 15-9 ATS at home, fourth best overall in the NBA.   Utah is No. 6 in scoring, averaging 119 PPG, but they are dead last, allowing 127.8 PPG.

Prediction

This game has all the signs of a wild shootout as the Jazz love to score while playing very little defense, while the Clippers have been putting up big points recently.  Utah is also the best team in the NBA with the OVER, 29-17.  BEST BET:  OVER 231.5
