NHL Best Bets for November 21, 2025: Picks and Predictions

Summary

Friday’s NHL schedule presents two valuable betting opportunities. The Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets are expected to be a high-scoring affair, as their past meetings have consistently produced goals. Both teams possess strong offenses, but recent struggles in goaltending and special teams suggest the game could be wide open. Player props for Kyle Connor to score and Sebastian Aho to record an assist are also recommended.

In the other matchup, the Pittsburgh Penguins hold a clear advantage over the visiting Minnesota Wild. Pittsburgh’s superior special teams and goaltending, combined with the Wild’s potential fatigue from their first road game after a long homestand, make the Penguins’ moneyline a strong value. Player props for Sidney Crosby to score and Matt Boldy to exceed 2.5 shots are also highlighted.

Friday’s NHL slate features two matchups with sharp betting value beyond the usual narratives. In Winnipeg, the Hurricanes and Jets meet in a matchup that profiles as a high-scoring tilt — these offences have historically lit each other up. Meanwhile, the Wild head to Pittsburgh, where the Penguins carry clear edges in both special teams and goaltending.

We’re targeting an over in a game with a track record of goals, a moneyline where the home team is practically giving away value at near pick’em odds, and a handful of player props that exploit matchup weaknesses.

Here’s how I’m betting Friday’s NHL slate.

Over 6 Goals (-112) | Hurricanes vs Jets

Edge in one line: Both teams bring firepower, but the special teams have struggled — and the goaltending, particularly for Winnipeg, hasn’t been quite as sharp lately.

Bet Breakdown:

The head-to-head trends are clear — 6 of the last 8 meetings have gone Over, with these two averaging 6.1 goals per game. That kind of consistency isn’t random.

Carolina fires 35+ shots per game and leads the league in puck possession, which creates two outcomes: they either bury you early or the game opens up into a track meet. Either way, goals happen.

Winnipeg’s top line is cooking right now. Mark Scheifele has 9 multi-point games already, and Kyle Connor continues generating elite scoring chances. They just dismantled Columbus 5-2, and their stars look locked in. When the Jets get rolling at home, they don’t play defensive hockey — they hunt.

The goaltending isn’t as sharp as the names suggest. Connor Hellebuyck has allowed 3+ goals in 6 of his last 8 starts, and while Pyotr Kochetkov has been solid for Carolina, he’s young and facing a Jets offense that thrives on opportunistic scoring.

This game has all the ingredients: two teams built to score, shaky special teams, and just enough goalie volatility to turn Friday night in Winnipeg into a firewagon.

Player Props | Hurricanes vs Jets

Kyle Connor – Anytime Goal

Connor’s averaging nearly 4 shots per game and has scored in 4 of his last 6. Carolina’s defense is structured to limit shot volume, but when they do give up chances, they’re high-danger — and that’s exactly where Connor operates.

Sebastian Aho – Over 0.5 Assists

Aho runs the Hurricanes’ offense, especially at even strength. He’s the quarterback on nearly every Carolina scoring chance, and if the Canes hit 3+ goals (which we’re banking on), he’s almost certainly involved.

Penguins Moneyline (-110) | Wild vs Penguins

Edge in one line: Pittsburgh at near pick’em is a gift when they hold the special teams advantage, goaltending edge, and late-game home ice push against a road-weary Wild team.

Bet Breakdown:

Minnesota’s 7-2-1 run looks impressive until you realize it was very home-heavy. This is their first road game after a long homestand, and that’s typically when the wheels wobble. The Wild have been solid at home, but stepping into Pittsburgh after a comfort stretch is a different animal.

The special teams gap is where this game tilts. Pittsburgh’s power play has been cooking at 40% over their last five games (4-for-10), while Minnesota’s penalty kill has been shaky, allowing 3 goals on 14 kills in the same stretch. If the whistles come — and they usually do in this matchup — the Penguins turn power plays into goals.

The Penguins’ third-period home ice push is real. When they’re tied or up one late, they stack chances and hunt the empty-net dagger. Pittsburgh at -110 is borderline disrespectful given the matchup dynamics and the way their playing this year. This low number reflects a post-Sweden travel discount — the books are baking in fatigue. I’m betting it won’t matter for a team that’s been through this before.

Player Props | Wild vs Penguins

Sidney Crosby – Anytime Goal

The power play is humming, and Crosby benefits from that late-game push when Pittsburgh is hunting the insurance marker.

Matt Boldy – Over 2.5 Shots

Boldy is Minnesota’s best offensive driver, and this number works even if the Wild are chasing. He’ll get his looks regardless of game script, making this a safer prop in a tough road spot.
