Predictions & Picks, NBA Best Bets for Tuesday, Nov 11

Summary

In a key Eastern Conference matchup, the Boston Celtics face the Philadelphia 76ers. The game features a scoring duel between Jaylen Brown (28.0 PPG) and Tyrese Maxey (33.2 PPG). The Celtics are coming off a win, while the 76ers have lost three of four, with Joel Embiid’s status uncertain. Recent trends favor Philadelphia against the spread, but Boston has won four of the last five head-to-head meetings. The prediction is for a close game, with the Celtics on the moneyline as the best bet.

The Golden State Warriors, with Stephen Curry expected back, begin a road trip against the dominant Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are 10-1, boast the league’s best point differential, and are a perfect 4-0 at home. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads OKC, averaging 33.2 points. Despite Curry’s return, the Thunder’s strong form and Golden State’s poor road record against the spread make Oklahoma City giving seven points the recommended wager.

It’s a battle of two of the top ten leading scorers in the NBA as Jaylen Brown (seventh in NBA, 28.0 points per game) takes on Tyrese Maxey (second in league, 33.2) when the Celtics head to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers.

Boston Celtics (5-6)

The Boston Celtics are coming off a big win Sunday night against the Magic as Jaylen Brown scored 27 points, and Derrick White and Jordan Walsh both drained 3-pointers late in the game for a 111-107 win.  Brown has been carrying this team in the absence of Jayson Tatum, who is out with an Achilles injury, averaging 28.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. White has been adding secondary scoring with 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists and contributing defensively, with 2.0 steals per game, fourth best in the NBA.  Another player who has fit in well has been Anfernee Simons who scored 25 points in 23 minutes against Orlando and is recording 15.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this season.

Philadelphia 76ers (6-4)

The 76ers have struggled of late losing three of the last four including a 111-108 home loss to Detroit on Sunday.  Tyrese Maxey scored 33 points while Andre Drummond had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers.  Joel Embiid sat this game out and his status for the game vs. Boston is likely a game-time decision.  Embiid has played in six of 10 games as he continues to recover from offseason left knee surgery. He is averaging 19.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 23.3 minutes.  Maxey leads the 76ers averaging 33.2 PPG, second best in the NBA while Kelly Oubre Jr. puts up 18.6 points, 5.3 boards, while Quentin Grimes posts 17.2 points, 4.1 boards and 4.4 assists per contest.
