Top 3 Player Props For Rams-Seahawks Week 16 First Place Rematch
Summary
A crucial NFC West showdown between the 11-3 Rams and Seahawks will decide the division and impact the conference’s top seed. Both teams are tied atop the league’s DVOA rankings, and their Week 11 meeting was decided by turnovers despite Seattle dominating statistically. Betting interest extends beyond the spread to player props.
Key prop bets include Rams RB Blake Corum staying under 39.5 rushing yards against Seattle’s stout run defense, and QB Matthew Stafford staying under 237.5 passing yards, having struggled against Seattle earlier. For the Seahawks, RB Zach Charbonnet is expected to exceed 38.5 total yards due to increased usage. Weather and injuries could further influence the game.
The NFL Playoffs are approaching, and three division titles are still up for grabs in the NFC, along with the No. 1 seed and first-round bye. The Thursday night football feature on Dec. 18 will offer some clarity when the Los Angeles Rams (11-3) and Seattle Seahawks (11-3) battle for first place in the NFC West from Luman Field. BetOnline has moved the Rams from a 1-point favorite to pick ‘em with a game total of 44 points. Player props will drive more betting action along with live/in-game betting.
The Rams defeated the Seahawks 21-19 in Week 8 action on Nov. 16. Current regular-season Most Valuable Player favorite Matthew Stafford (-250) passed for a season-low 130 yards in the victory. Four Seahawks turnovers, all interceptions by QB Sam Darnold, were the difference in defeat as the Seahawks out-gained the Rams 414-249 yards, had 26 first downs to 12 for the Rams, and ran 79 plays with nearly 38 minutes of ball possession to 50 plays and 22 minutes for the Rams.Â
DVOA Rankings
A look back at some key stats from the Rams-Seahawks Week 11 game showed these teams’ top ratings in DVOA (Defensive-adjusted Value Over Average). Now into Week 16, the Rams and Seahawks remain neck-and-neck atop the league’s DVOA rankings. Seattle also leads the NFL in defensive EPA (111.1) while allowing the second-lowest points per drive (1.48). Â
Both the Rams and Seahawks are also a league-best 10-4 against the spread (ATS) this season. But beyond the spread, moneyline, totals, halftime wagering, and live/in-game betting that will drive the watch and wager interest, player props will be most popular in this prime-time showdown and add to the engaging and entertaining action.Â
3 Top Player Props
- LA Rams RB Blake Corum – Under 39.5 rushing yards.
The Seahawks defense was allowing a league-low -0.21 EPA/rush into last week’s last-second FG and 18-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Seahawks defense limited the NFL’s leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor, to 87 yards on 25 carries as Indy relied on a heavy rushing attack with 44-year-old QB Phillip Rivers coming off the street to play in his first NFL game in nearly 5 years. With Blake Corum stealing more carries the last three games and having his most productive contests of the season, his expectations and over/under yards are rising. But Corum had just 10 rushing yards on 8 carries against the Seahawks in Week 11 while leading rusher Kyren Williams was more productive (91 yards) and remains the featured running back.Â
- LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford – Under 237.5 passing yards
Stafford is averaging 266 passing yards per game (2nd in NFL) while playing in all 14 games this season. His 37 TD passes lead the league, and he’s had just 5 passes intercepted. But as noted above, Stafford was slowed against Seattle in the Week 11 contest, passing for a season-low 130 yards while completing just 15-of-28 passes at 4.6 yards per pass. Pro Football Focus notes that Stafford has some of the most drastic splits when facing disruption or not, ranking as the NFL’s best with no disruption but well below average when disturbed. The Seahawks’ defense leads the NFL in disruption, and the weather will be a factor as well, with rain likely (90%) and 10-15 mph winds gusting above 20 mph in near 40-degree temperatures. Rams leading scorer WR Davante Adams (14 TDs) is likely out this game after suffering a hamstring injury in the 41-34 victory over the Lions last week. The Seahawks can focus more coverage on Puca Nucua, who has 102 receptions for 1,367 yards this season – both No. 2 in the league while leading the league with better than a 70% success rate.Â
- Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet – Over 38.5 rushing and receiving yards
Underrated Zach Charbonnet had 13 touches for 47 yards in Week 11 against the Rams (37 rushing). The Seahawks average 30 rushing attempts per game at home, and Charbonnet played more snaps than RB Kenneth Walker last week as Walker’s usage has decreased and he’s failed to reach 14 rushing attempts in any of his last four starts. The Rams’ run defense is solid, but Seattle will commit more to the run in this matchup and some shorter passes and RB screens. The weather and Rams’ defensive front pressure will factor into the play calling for QB Sam Darnold, who struggled with four interceptions against the Rams in Week 11.Â
