Thanksgiving Feast: 3 NFL Player Props To Indulge In With Your Turkey

Summary

Thanksgiving week kicks off the busiest period for sports betting, headlined by a major college basketball tournament and three NFL games on Thursday. The football action continues with a Friday matchup between first-place teams, followed by Saturday’s key college football rivalry games, ensuring a full holiday weekend of wagering opportunities.

Specific player prop bets are highlighted for the holiday games. Recommendations include betting on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott to exceed 10.5 rushing yards, Ravens RB Derrick Henry to have over 17.5 rushing attempts, and Eagles RB Saquon Barkley to gain more than 76.5 rushing yards, with detailed reasoning provided for each prediction based on team matchups and defensive statistics.

The start of the holiday season at Thanksgiving is also the busiest sports betting week of the year. It tipped off in Las Vegas with a big college basketball tournament featuring 10 top-ranked teams. Thanksgiving Day features three NFL games followed by another pro football contest on Friday between first-place teams. BetOnline provides player props and picks along with NFL teasers to add to your watch and wager on Thanksgiving Day action.

If that’s not fulfilling enough, Friday and Saturday’s college football rivalry games should knock the stuffing out of fans craving for more football coverage to engage and entertain through the holiday weekend into Sunday’s NFL Week 13 games.

Player props

As you consider how to bet on the NFL for Thanksgiving and each week with sides, totals, and moneylines drawing more interest, player props continue to drive the action and betting handle higher at top online sportsbooks like BetOnline. In Week 10, more player prop winners in the Eagles-Packers game drew more watch and wager action on the standalone Monday Night Football game.

Now the Thanksgiving games draw even more interest and ratings. As football fans overindulge in their turkey and fixings, it seems appropriate to target ‘over’ bets on NFL player props on Thanksgiving. Many fans will also target the betting favorites and home teams, as BetOnline reports that Thanksgiving Day favorites have gone 36-8 straight up (SU) and 25-19 against the spread (ATS) since 2010.

  1. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott – Over 10.5 rushing yards

Last week, the Colts’ less mobile QB Daniel Jones rushed 3 times for 16 yards against the Chiefs’ defense, which has allowed the third-most rushing attempts for the sixth-most yards against by opposing quarterbacks this season. Recall Bills QB Josh Allen recently rushed 6 times for 19 yards and 2 TD’s at home against the Chiefs despite Bills RB Cook carrying a heavy load that day in a 28-21 Bills victory. Prescott should find some lanes to run and escape against a Chiefs defense that blitzes at a top-7 rate in the NFL and now faces their most dangerous and productive pair of receivers in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Dak has run the ball at least four times in five straight games, and he may clear this number on 1-2 attempts.
  1. Ravens RB Derrick Henry – Over 17.5 rushing attempts

The nightcap and dessert on Thanksgiving Day is the Bengals-Ravens division duel in Baltimore. The Bengals’ defense ranks last in the league, allowing 32.7 points and 416 yards per game at 6.3 yards per play. It’s worse with top defensive end Trey Hendrickson (hip/pelvis) out for his fifth consecutive game over Thanksgiving, and CB Cam Taylor-Britt now sidelined for the season with a foot injury. The Bengals’ defense surrenders a yard more per play (7.8) with Taylor-Britt off the field. Quarterback Joe Burrow makes his long-awaited return to the lineup following toe surgery in September, and star WR Ja’Marr Chase returns after missing last week’s loss to the Patriots due to suspension. But those two don’t play defense, and with the Bengals defense allowing 31 rushing attempts and the AFC-worst 156 rushing yards per game, you can count on the Ravens’ ground game with RB Derrick Henry and QB Lamar Jackson to improve on the Ravens’ top-6 rushing attack, averaging 140 yards per game at 4.9 yards per rush. Since Jackson’s return to the lineup from injury, the Ravens are 4-0 and averaging 33 rush attempts per game and 146 rushing yards per game. Henry rushed 19 times for 104 yards in Week 9 against a Dolphins defense that surrendered 5.0 yards per rush. The Bengals’ defense is one of four current teams allowing at least 5.0 yards per rush. So with Jackson nursing a toe injury and missing some practice time, we’ll turn to Henry to log more carries again, with at least 18 rushing attempts in six straight games.
  1. Eagles RB Saquon Barkley – Over 76.5 rushing yards

Last season’s 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley is at just 684 rushing yards a 3.7 yards per rush in 11 games this season. That’s after a season-low 22 rushing yards at Dallas last week in defeat. But he’s still top 5 in rushing attempts (185), just a few behind Derrick Henry. Facing a Bears defense that is one of four current teams allowing at least 5.0 yards per rush, Barkley should break out for one of his best games of the season, even with All-Pro OT Lane Johnson sidelined. In Week 8, Saquon rushed 14 times for a season-high 150 yards and one TD against the Giants’ league-worst rushing yards (157) and yards per rush (5.9) defense. The Bears (8-3) are in first place in the NFC North, despite having a negative points differential but leading the NFL in turnover margin. On the road in Philadelphia against the defending Super Bowl champs, Barkley should lead the way with more touches in victory. (Rush attempts over/under 17.5, rush/receiving yards O/U 100.5).
